Pixel Art / Re: Dragon - help with colours/texture please

I was reading about banding in the ramblethread (https://pixelation.org/index.php?topic=8110.0) and I realised there was a lot in my dragon. Tried to fix it, I think there's more that I missed though

Hey, this is really cool! I love the detail you've put into it, I was working on it for about 5 minutes before I saw the tree out the window :P I like that you've kept the contrast low on the wallpaper so it lets the other elements stand out.

I made a few adjustments - changing the shading on the pillars to match the light source more, moving the highlight on the pot further from the edge to suggest roundness, and changing the lighting on the windows.

I also added a highlight to the candle to make it stand out, but that's just my personal preference, you may want to keep it subtle.

I like the picture, perhaps it's a bit close to the pillar so it feels squished?

Hope that helps, keep it up!

Okay so I toned down the lighter colour I added and used it more throughout, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. I don't know how to shade the belly and wings either ???

Thanks heaps for the feedback!

@MysteryMeat You're right, it was very slimy. Changing the saturation and contrast made it way better I think.
I don't know what kind of environment you're building this dragon for
Neither  it's just a practice monster at the mo

@Danielclarc Your edit was really helpful, thanks! I had no idea what I was doing with the fingers.

I tried adding some texture on the tail but I think it's just adding noise

Pixel Art / Dragon - help with colours/texture please
« on: August 20, 2017, 02:13:41 pm »
First post, hello!

I've done a bit of pixel art but just enough to learn some basics. I feel like I still fall down a lot on colours and textures (and probably other areas that I'm too noob to notice ::) )

I've done this simple dragon and would love some critique please, I'm not sure where to take it from here.
