Eyes too high?

What's with this one-liner fad on the forums these days?

OT:
Her eyes are not at the 100 percent perfect proportion; however, I'm representing a human face, not making one for real. I don't see it as a detraction at this point. No doubt it could be done better? This was made to help someone else with rendering faces with this palette moreso than it was for it's own respect.

For the lulz

I loved the idea so i made you an edit.

The likeness is probably more accurate considering the fact that I pixeled this with her face plastered next to it. Good luck!

Edit: Also want to add that although color restrictions might lead one to believe that dithering is necessary ...it is often not so. The above was dithered in particular places for fun more than requirement, so keep that in mind. Try to really use your colors as they are first and if you need to touch something up, or perhaps add texture, you can try a dithered approach.

I admire your pixels.

All I see is that her legs and shoes seem to be less outlined than the rest of her (but then again, what do I know...), and of course, the stubby dagger.

Moar, please. ;D

Appreciate your comment, thanks! I'm not 100 % finished with the sprite, so the outlining style might change a bit.

Currently working on a run animation (I'm a terrible animator, so I could use some pointers /tips from some pros).

I'm sleepy but I can't wait to see what insight some of you guys have to offer!

6 Frames:

Forgot to mess with the transparency in Gale, so bear with the white for now please. This outline is clearly quite rough and is only 4 frames due to my noobness. I wouldn't mind increasing it a bit.

Pixel Art / Platformer practice: Stage 1

Hey guys. I've been lurking around a few old topics and found myself staring at some of the amazing platformer mock ups. I also realized that I have very little experience making them; therefore I hope to spend some time going through that process for educational purposes. I'll be doing this on my free-time in various stages, so please feel free to comment, critique, and edit at your leisure.

Thanks.

Stage 1: Character sprite.

My original idea was wielding a pistol. I'm hoping to bring that idea back in a future version; hence this dagger was used as a placeholder until I manage to figure how to make one that doesn't look like crap. I'm also still trying to work on the palette, rendering of the character, and the concept. Boredom is no friend to the uncertain =[.

Thanks! I'm going to take some time before the next version to keep my eyes fresh. Definitely agree regarding the comments on her neck and arm. I tried thickening the original pencil neck; hopefully a pixel or two more should do the trick. Glad to know the redraw was helpful. The original was constrictive in its integrity.

Thanks for the CC so far, Mias. I'm still working on the anatomy; trying to make things look a bit less wonky. Above is the current version with ugly hands =[.

Here's my contribution...

Hopefully I didn't ruin the style too much, lol. I just tried to address a few issues with the pose: moved her center of gravity a bit, made her slightly taller, and added a pole instead of a wall. I felt it might be less weird that way. I also tried to mess with her face a bit. I widened it by a few pixels to add more depth and messed with a few of the shadows. Hopefully the smirk shows a bit more this way. I also tweaked the hair a bit, although it's nothing pro.

Good luck and have fun!

EDIT: The Top-hand needs work, btw. I left it alone, but it's not ideal.

That's the new version taking what miascugh had to say in consideration. I'm quite surprised at how far removed this is from the original. Not sure whether that's good or bad, but I have learned a lot in the process (I think).
Fully redrawn and all, while trying to preserve the palette as much as possible. Need to do a bit more work on the hands, feet, and hair.
CC of course.

That's really pretty =]; the comments are appreciated. Uhm, I think i'll try a redraw of the sprite and pose. I abandoned the floaty-ness despite how much I wanted it to work, so I'm not reluctant to try it again. I'll take your edit's pose into account, for sure.

Sorry about the double post~ New version:

I thought about a few things and decided to make a few changes anatomically: face, torso, breasts, legs, feet, hands.
Essentially, I saw the hermit-crab syndrome as a product of multiple problems and made adjustments in order to remedy them.

Hopefully the changes are improvements.
Edit: the dithering is sort of preliminary and lame. I suck at dithering so help would certainly be welcome in that department.
