Hehe the main guy looks like the main character from this Indy game called "The Underside" http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/insignificantstudios/index.php
And The Underside is a ripoff of Cave Story..

The main character reminds me of Orko.

This thread derailed fairly quick, I never indended to discuss "japanophiles", pocky, anime/manga, ramen, or even bleach and fighting games, so I won't. I just wanted to show off the emblem editor.

Anyway, this is my cue to walk out of the thread.

looks a little too jpop for my tastes, but i can see how people might go for it.

Jpop? If you're talking about the song in the trailer then it's just the intro theme for the game, the ingame music is more traditional "game music". It's a fighting game..

Here are two longer gameplay movies..

that actually is pretty cool, particularly the stylus bit.  What sort of game is it a feature on?
Bleach DS 2nd is a fighting game based on Tite Kubos manga and anime "Bleach", the game is developed by Treasure. It also features online play via Nintendos Wi-Fi Connection service, and that's where the emblems come into play.

You can see a trailer of the game here,

And if you're interested, you can pick up the game here:

(sorry, no art to show off today.. just figured I'd share my find)

The emblem editor in Bleach DS 2nd is the best one I've seen on Nintendo DS so far (as opposed to the one in Tony Hawks Downhill Jam - which is the worst one), it's pretty much a fully featured pixel program on the go, the limits are 32x32 pixels and a palette of 16 colours - but you can select your own colours in the 15 bit range instead of working with a predefined palette.

Input is dpad or stylus based, and it has the most obvious tools (pen, eraser, fill, line, colour pipette, undo/redo) but even cut and paste. Seeing how some of you on this forum like to work small, I figured I'd share my find.

My only question is, where did you get the inspiration for this? I mean, it's an awesome piece... I've seen the little guy in the corner before but the colossus of a figure in the middle... was it something that you just pictured in your head, or was there any references? The Animation is very helpful as well so thank you for that!

I'm not Snake, but the references for this piece is obviously Katamari Damashii (for the little guy, the prince, who rolls up everything to a big ball) and Shadow of the Colossus, another PS2 game where you fight giant colossi.

Snake: I do not think you have to be overly worried about people stealing your work and claiming it as theirs, there should be plenty of people in the pixel community who can verify that they are, in fact, yours. People stealing the work of others will get caught eventually.

But yes, an online portfolio to showcase your work would help you as it's not as easy to get away with theft then.

As for the Shadow of the Katamari piece, it's stellar.. whoever submitted it as a jpeg should me ashamed of him/her-self though.
