Also went for a middle sized sprite:

Well, light underneath the water surface is a bit weird because of the refraction, but yeah still it was very off.

Here's another attempt to fix the shape a bit and shadings:

Hey there  :)

So I was trying to make a fish for a game. Now, I was told the small version was hard to read and that I should go for a bigger sized sprite and make my way from there.

This is the original:

And this is the bigger sprite:

At this point, really, anything is welcome  :'( ???
Thanks in advance!

I agree with pusty, it does look cool! But maybe the contrast is a bit low, try raising it maybe.

It's good to see you use the [img] tags, but you should not upscale your pieces!
This site has a built-in scaling function when you click the image.
Please reupload your piece but not scaled this time so it will be easier to edit and crit :)

Hey I really like this piece although there are some things that are really eye catching:
1. The black *thick* outlines are really out of place, especially because the inside are thinner.
2. The contrast especially in the bottom region is really low.
3. There are some AAs that causes the cloth to look like it is floating above the stockings.

Sorry that I can't really get into too much details or give an edit. I am a beginner myself, but these are the things I could see immediately  :D

Here's a punching animation I did after a lot of feedback from people on Slack:

I don't know about the 3rd but the first one is almost exactly the same as the sprite from a youtube tutorial so claiming it as your own isn't okay.

There are clear differences between the 1st and 3rd to the other two, I assume the 2nd and 4th are your own.
And as @kilenc said they lack shading and contrast. There are plenty of tutorials on these subjects, you should watch some.

Your idle animation suggests that the skeleton is breathing, which it can't. try just keeping it static as it stays still. Very cool looking tiles!

But won't it be weird just standing there? I mean I guess I can just keep the opening jaw.

Here is a quick update:

I started working on walking animations today:

EDIT:
Timing of the hands was off, so I fixed it:
