Ah, thanks PypeBros! I wanted to declare it as finished, but your edit give me some ideas for an improved version. I really like your version of this top platform with the rabbit.

Pixel Art / The yellow dragon [WIP]
« on: January 08, 2010, 05:16:33 pm »
Hi, I am currently working on a ... Yellow Dragon

For this, I want to construct the dragon out of multiple parts, which will be concatenated in realtime:
- head
- neck (16x16 sphere)
- body (32x32 sphere)
- tail (16x16, 8x8, 4x4 spheres)
- 2x wings
- 4x feet
- shadow

To enable a full 360 degree movement, head, wings and feet have to be drawn in 8 directions. For flying or running animations, the wings and feet have to be animated, too. (probably)

bodyparts / mockup

C&C are welcome

I tried to show some evidence that the smashers have the same angle as the ground platforms. Thanks Tuna.  ;) Also, I tried to fix the lighting of the stones, but I do not like the final result very much. Seems like I need some more practice for backgrounds.

Ok, Heroes first... Ptoing's big robot is really great, but I cannot reproduce that shading style.
I also tried to address that banding-problem, but I am not sure if I see every form of banding. Did I fix it?

Update: some shadings on the background

@NaCl: The smashers did not fit, indeed. But I wanted to use platforms, so maybe the smashers look better when the standard walls have more depth. Better?

Pixel Art / Triumvirate [WIP]

Just a game mockup where the player can switch between three characters with specific abilities. A human, a robot and a rabbit. The human can use items and different suits (yeah, sexy), rabbit has telekinetic abilities and the robot can lift heavy stuff.

Pretty much WIP of course, C&C are welcome.

Firefox 2 displays static images instead of animated. Can someone confirm that Firefox 3 shows these?
Seems like these are PNG-anims. Firefox 3 can display them, while programs which do not support png-anim, are only displaying the placeholder-image in the PNG-file.

Hi Aramaki,

I really like this setting and your style. Anyway, the latest version looks still a bit washed out for me. So here's my max-contrast-edit.

PS: you might want to calibrate your monitors: http://epaperpress.com/monitorcal/

The front(?) part at the right side of the big ship is difficult to read for me. (it is more obvious at the small ship, that this is the front part)

@thedaemon: Hey, I like these eyes! But the darker body looks like the guys are wearing clothes. (which they will finally, anyway)

@Bissle/PypeBros: The light source for the scene is on the lower left. But you are right, I will have to change the shadow of the horizontal walls. However, I am not sure about that bright walls. Maybe I should make the bricks on the top darker. I will test it...

updated walk cycles: naked, with metal armor, with cape and staff, attack animation

finally, I tried to pixel a skeleton. I am somehow pleased with the front view, but I couldn't do it in side view. Help!  :o

[UPDATE]
