I think that may actually be more of an issue with how birds work.

See, the reason (many, not all) birds bob their head is because they can't move their eyes, so they have to rely on stabilization of their heads in order to see well. Like with us, we can keep our eyes focused on a thing while birds have to move the entire head.

Because of this, those birds try to keep their heads as static as possible when they move, resulting in the forward-bobbing motion many people associate with them when they have to move the head to keep up with their body.
You can see it here on these pigeons:

In terms of fixing it on the sprite, I'd say quicken the bob so the head juts forward every step they take, like above.

Not my campaign, though I assume there's some stuff that's keeping that in check. I definitely plan to ask about that.

Noted. It's easier to see when blown up to proper scale, but I have problems with proper contrast because of my eyes being wonky.
I'll get a reworking up soon.
For reference, I was going for sort of this vibe to the shading:

The head motion is fine, but it's a bit choppy and the shading seems to be a bit inconsistent around the torso area.
These are not necessarily bad things if you're going for a "this shit ain't natural" vibe though, long as you have smoother animated stuff to contrast against.

Devlogs & Projects / [Quest] The Fair-Use Follies of MegaDude!
« on: March 11, 2016, 12:03:10 pm »
(Author's note: this is an experiment, so rules are going to be pretty loose.
This is a Quest-format adventure, meaning I draw the world and put up obstacles for you to overcome while you get control over your protagonist MegaDude. Suggestions will be taken as thoughts running through the protagonist's mind, spurring him either to action or back sass. Sometimes both!
This isn't going to be a particularly serious quest, mind, but if this test run is successful I might do more! Maybe! We'll see!  :y: :y: :y:

Also, if you see a ">_", that's a prompt to enter the next slew of commands!)

Your name is MegaDude. You came into existence in 2003 when a 15 year old boy in japan tried to make a game for his terrible original character (you).
He got about halfway through drawing your spritesheet, the startings of a tile set, and managed to sort-of cobble together the first level. Kind of.

Then he just quit entirely, leaving you stranded here with only one functional attack, your PEASHOOTER.
You have no jump animation, you slide across the ground instead of walking (let alone running), and you can only face right.
Frankly, your life sucks rancid donkey butthole right now.

Finally tired of not being able to even look left, you've decided to make your way into an actual game through your own grit and determination.

But first, you have to figure out how to get out of this horrible glitchy waste.
Thankfully, your programmer wasn't exactly great at coding, so this shouldn't be TOO hard to break completely, right?

General Discussion / Re: So where would I put a quest, anyhow?

There's definitely more of a creative element than just Roleplay, namely that there's pictures involved.
Again, check the link.
It's closer to a webcomic in form than anything else. I'll note that though, I was thinking that was the place but wasn't sure.

For context, a Quest is a reader-driven webcomic type thing.

It can be run a variety of ways, but most common is a sort of simplified "dungeons and dragons" type where users control the character's actions while the quest author dictates the setting and situations.

What board would I be best served starting one of these on do you think?
Pixelation seems like a cool place, if a bit slow, and I'd like to try this out as an experiment with the community here.

An example of sort of thing I'd be posting, hosted on tgchan.org:

Bricks are a bit small, honestly.
That's fine if you're going for a sort of medieval ruins aesthetic, but can be a bit noisy visually.
That's a judgement call though, I haven't seen the relative style of the player character to see if they contrast well or not, so take this with a grain of salt.
