UPDATE:



Removed the jagged outlines, added a new shadow layer and made it all somewhat more smooth...
Anything to improve?

Great improvement, I don't see much more you can do to it without changing the initial character.  ;D

try doing a softer outline. Right now it loses a lot of form because highlighted areas have the same dark outline as the darker areas do.

I still think there's a lot of smoothness that can be added to the outline. I recommend inspecting SirBilly's edit further, though that's not as far as it can go.

I see a number of structural distortions, some the result of the rendering, others a result of warped perspective:



I believe it should be more like this:



It depends on the pose you want, but my point is you need to carefully consider the form of the subject, and how the viewpoint and pose will change the projection of that structure.

Also, your purple needs to be darker to kick up contrast.
