Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: [C+C][WIP] Sprites for a beat'em up

My main concern here is the tights being way too long. I think that's what makes proportions weird and the impression that the head is too small (it might be tho)

Nice first (and last) post.

Hey there, welcome =)

You should post 1x art. This forum has a zoom feature (click image); people will make edits more easily at native resolution.

If you want help on a specific piece, please choose one. Some work could be done on color and shading ;)

Good point, especially since some of your pixels are deformed by the zoom. Remember to use the right values when you zoom in (100%-200%-300%, etc.) otherwise the some pixels won't be squares and the overall result will be kind of wonky.

I like the style tho, keep going !

I like this too, very charming !
The things that doesn't seem to work for me are the small dithering parts you made on the tree, try keeping it plane for the shadows.
Also, I had to observe it for like 5 minutes before realizing these were brains at the end of the branches. I thought there were like big fruits or something.
I really really like the mechanic 16x16 tiles, you can make a few 32x32 blocks for some variety as well

EYEBROWS

I knew there was something wrong with that guy.

You just took Ryumaru's edit and edited it a bit, wtf dude.

Hm, looking at it closely, I'm really not sure he did that. He may have been heavily inspired but I guess that's the purpose of an edit.

Man, I just wanted to say that I've been following this thread since the very beginning with much attention and each new post you make is a pleasure for my eyes, really.
The game looks really promising and I really enjoy that kind of glitchy aesthetics you're going for sometimes.
I don't have anything relevant to say, I just wish you the best of luck with this project. Looks awesome ! keep it up :)

I really like were you've got so far ! Tho I agree with seiseki on the black BG. White is defenitely an option, especially considering the nature of your music, but I do think you can find somethin that'll fit better.
The one you posted before your last message are really good too, not sure why. It feels less muddy, kind of lighter.

I like the concept behind this !
I have a few suggestions tho. I think the image lacks composition, for now it looks like a noisy pixel panel and it doesn't really make sense with the music. If you try to define a few shapes, whatever it is, doesn't have to represent something, it would help top give it more sense and that way each image could be different (not just a color swap)

General Discussion / Re: Good Pixel Art Programs for Mac?
« on: June 01, 2014, 01:08:05 am »
Hey ! I'm on mac as well and I've been using photoshop forever and never had any problems considering pixel art. I would even say that it has nearly all the tools you need for PA. I don't see how it's a problem that tools ain't designed for pixe art since they do the job.
You can animate in photoshop as well (depends on the version but if it's recent you should have it). I'm not a photoshop nor color limitations expert but looks like photoshop is pretty ok considering color count and palettes as well.
