I don't know what it is, but it looks very stylish and cool. 8)
However, I can definitely say that on my laptop moniter, I can barely see the... uh... thing. Lower the luminosity and increase contrast please. Also, the part where the face touches that green rectangle isn't very smooth, so use some AA colors from the finger or make the rectangle smaller. I like the wrinkles and the shiny bald head effect. :)

Obscure, yes. Ugly, well, no (but so bright I'm going blind  :-\).

Looks pretty good, though the colors couldn't be any more saturated if they wanted to be. (figure of speech, don't take it that seriously)
But do lower the saturation. For me? ::)

Just another point, I'm not sure if this type of work detracts from it, but it seems that the light source is between you and the entity in the piece (a light way to put pillow shading) Of course, it might be that the light source is from above, but the neck seems to defy that.

But I'm mainly concerned about the saturation. Other than that, it looks nice. Like
Uh...
FLaN! (mmmmm...)

The mountains are flat, heh. You should add shading to it.
I feel like keeping it flat. Gives it a surreal, storybook feel to it(I hope). Or maybe somebody will come and slap me in the face for saying that.
Vary the hues when the shades gets lighter and darker. for the sleeves, that'll add some interesting colors.
For me, it's hue shifts vs. color conservation. I dunno. Maybe I'll get slapped(again) for saying that.
Good thing you've desaturated the colors :D. You should also use good contrast in terms of essential shading.
err... thanks. I'm not exactly new to pixel art, though, and reduced saturation in colors is probably considered standard practice.  ;)

There's a thread with all sorts of tools in the general forum, it's stickied...

I advice GraphicsGale...
I second, but if you use FreeEdition, be prepared try and find alternative ways to assemble the animation.
The people here are probably taking their time.
What's a TBD?
nobody here take part in my activity, i'm so disappointed.
i'm a Chinese, also comes from asian, nice to meet u.
I think the "TBD" means "not sure". :P

calm down ya crazy bastard, I doubt 80% of the people on this forum have the animating knowledge and technique to do a transformer that they would be willing to post on here and not be ashamed. Animating is the hardest thing to do with pixel art, have some patience.
I have to agree. By the way, are there any pixelling animating tutorials? Or studies? Anything on pixel animation at all? I have been unsuccessful looking for them, and so far, any knowledge on animation I have is through common sense or experimentation.

I'm not sure what you mean by both of those crits, lief. Could you be more specific/elaborate?
Outline a little more consistently in the lower section.
lower luminosity = appears farther

Nice christmas avatar edit Pawidge.  :D

Red guy = COOL. I really like this piece, though I do have to agree with Pawidge's comment.

Pixel Art / Re: What Are Pixels Made Of?

noice, but i thought 1 bit could only 2 colors, your background has like 4
edit: oh yeah, i was gonna ask this. do 1 bit sprites have 2 colors and transparency or just 1 and transparency?
Technically, if there was only one bit for each pixel, then 1 and transparency.
As you can see, this allows for very little freedom.
So you might as well do a 2 bit game. 4 col for background (you might as well). 3 + trans for sprites (or two in Dogmeat's case).

The fold on the left sleeve of the singing winter fruit child doesn't match up with his arm. And shouldn't these folds be reflected in the furry white outline of the cape?

It's cute.
Keep it away from Michael Jackson.
