Changed the house somewhat - hopefully for the better.
Also added some more... consistant outlines to the rocks.
No colours added.

I wouldn't use 3d models as references.

This is exactly the sort of thing that annoys me. There is nothing wrong with the style of this portrait. It isn't even totally derivative of your typical throwaway anime, so I don't know why that is even being brought up. Shouldn't we be trying to help Adarias to improve what he is trying to make rather than telling him to make something different? Sure if it was horrible, point him in the direction of some tutorials; but this isn't. Make an edit and let him decide if he likes that direction better but don't outright tell him how to do it, or that one style of anime is better than another. These are subjective things. It is the talent behind the style and not the style itself that will dictate the quality of the result.

Let's also bear in mind the style of the sprites themselves. They are not realistic and don't attempt to be. These portraits will suit them better than realism or realistic anime ever will.

Arachne & Adarias: Thank you very much, very useful info. I shall update soon.

Please help me on how I should understand and learn from Stefano's amasing edit ??? (I'm very confused and all I can manage is to copy it pixel for pixel).

Look at the shape of the mouth and eyes. Look at the way the face curves in at the eyes, and out again to form a brow. Observe where he used outlines and where he relied on shading to convery shape. Most of all, go on google and find yourself copious references of the structure of the human face. Look at skulls, look at muscle cross-sections, or whatever helps you to better understand the shape of the human face. Pay close attention to the way light acts on the human face while you're at it.

Ooh... OK :D

Better now?

Edit: Adjusted the palette a teeny bit.

Excellent update.
I was thinking to myself with each new version that her groin needed something extra, but I couldn't lay a finger on what. What you came up with is perfect - it is thoroughly disgusting and completely avoids being perverse or giggle worthy. You're definitely on the home stretch now; keep it up! :y:

Looks male to me.
The ear is horribly misplaced though.

I'm an unofficial helper of sorts , and here are the suggestions I made to .TakaM, so if people could comment on those changes it would be helpful.
I haven't touched the trees, but I think the far one's trunk needs reworking.

Well, as you didn't comment on my reply, I'll expand a bit:
It's a flood zone, and whilst it does look muddy, I think some small puddles would give a better impression that this place is liable to flooding.
Which I assume is the reason for the lack of life. The greeness of the plants would then make sense too.

Look okay to me.
You could throw in some puddles.

It's a guy in a suit. ¬_¬

Anyway, his shoulders are far too broad, and if you were aiming for perspective, you've failed at it.
Right now he looks like a Rugby player in a suit. Take a look at other sprites in a similar perspective and adjust accordingly.
