Hi Filax,

cute critter! Are you trying to keep to a limited palette or are you going all out? I think the shadows could be a little more emphasized. The oranges are nearly almost the same shade, maybe bring it slightly lower? Or throw in an additional darker shade.

Are you gonna do a sel-out on the outline or are you planning to have none at all?

That looks much better. (That was a shirt? Eek. I thought it was a tongue initially. *gets bricked* Sorries) :P Nice work!

I think I'm just repeating everyone by saying that it looks like a lot of effort, so I won't. Hah! Oh, wait, I just did... Urgh, never mind. *rolls eyes*

I think the image isn't so much of messy, rather it's sort of... busy. There's dithering everywhere. Dithering's a good thing, but personally I think it should be used sparingly, otherwise the image ends up looking difficult to read.

The character design and the background is really good though! Although the character seems to blend into the background a little too much. Perhaps give the character a slightly darker outline for distinguishing? There's a whole lot of blue, and it gets a bit hard to see around the tongue and waist/leg area.

Hi Rox, :D

You're right, haha, the first generations of pokemon were pretty interesting, but they get progressively better in each series. (The graphics being the major leap, wow. Pokemon Red sucks really bad right now. XD )

And errr, wow, official? I'm flattered. Thank you. I'm still amazed no one's pointed out the horrible dithering attempts I did on some of the critters. :o

Holy crap, I love your use of colors. Especially that on the mecha, and on the Naruto chibi. ♥

Ignore me if I'm wrong since I'm just a n00b here, but the tree, to me, looks as though the branches are wrapped outside the mass of green blobs that are supposed to be leaves, insteading of growing out and branching out. There are shadows around the "end" of the branches that make it look like it's a hand-ish thing trying to squeeze the green.

Would it be possible if you made the tree a little more umbrella shaped, with some extra foilage overlapping the branch ends?

Hi Camus,

I don't think I said that Sapphire's art was "marvellous" in anyway :| I only mentioned how much I really liked it. I know it's definitely not one of the best, seeing as there're other games like Sword of Mana and Metal Slug and whatnot, but Sapphire's simplistic style really appeals to me. While I don't intend to have all of my future pixel art coming out looking that way, I'd like to use it as a starting point, seeing as I haven't even grasped the concept of pixel art, and perhaps once I'm more familiar with the medium I'll develop a style of my own. =P

Still, thank you very much for the in-depth critiques on all the sprites, wow. I really appreciate it. =) Kittal was half-assed XD So I'm not too surprised by your comment.

Heh, I only just realized how much the lines of the fifth one seem to blend right into the background of this website. There's actually a grayish kind of line that defines its spine and such.

The first one needs work in what way?
