Think you might be starting off a bit too big...
Shading changes a lot from one part of the bike to the next; you should have a more defined lightsource.
Back wheel is too big.
And seat is at a funny angle. (Should be flatter, I think)
I do like the way you shaded the uh... the reddish part of the handle bars though, they have a nice metallic feel

Way too big. The fact that this is your second work solidifies this statement even more... Pixel art is about having control over every pixel..., and I highly doubt you're going to sit and mess around with every single 200,000 or so pixels of that bike until it looks just right. In pixel art, one pixel can effect the whole piece, this just seems like a large painting done in MSPaint.

In simpler terms, start off a lot smaller--a 200x200 pixel canvas at most.

Nonono, not too much work.
The canvas is just huge. The size of the painting is super-big.

I don't think people want you to shrink it down. I think they want you to start from scratch and make a tiny bike.
