Hi,

This is my first proper attempt at making pixel art -- it's for an action platformer I'm working on -- and I feel it's rather bland...

I've read all the tutorials I could find on the topic, but of course, they can only get you so far!

Specific tips would be much appreciated.  :)

The fact that the pillars a darker than the background rocks completely breaks the depth, I think(especially since they're purple, and the rocks are great, much closer to the color of the foreground). You could probably lighten the pillars a lot without confusing the player.

I think the skulls (these act like coins in game) add a lot more interest too.
