I like the idea of adding shapes to the explosion (reminds me a lot of xcom), and while your detailing is great itīs neither very smooth nor blood-like.
From the individual frames you posted it seems like you didnīt pay enough attention to two things: 1) viscosity and 2) blob tracking. A spatter of blood is a liquid, and a pretty thick one at that. You need to track the individual masses, just like with any other animation. If you look where each blob goes, you can easily fill in the connections and have them fade out / mist out wherever you want.
Also like the others mentioned, your detailing is great, but imo that can be a handicap when it comes to animations.
tips: start simple, make a few splashes, spatters and blobs. With more than 3 or 4 blobs the whole thing can get pretty difficult to track, especially if you donīt use layers (and if you do, youīll end up with hundreds in no time).
