Walk Animation Help

on: December 24, 2010, 05:20:04 pm
I made this knight for a cheesy game I'm working on. The front and back walk look fine in game, so I'm not worried about those. My problem is the side animation. Every time I mess with it, he looks like he's marching. I'm trying to make him just have a normal walk. He's 32x32, 4 frames. Can anyone help me out?

You're moving the shoulders and hips in the front and back views but they're static in the side view. Put some swing into his step!

I tried to fix it, but I can't get the legs to look right. I'm trying to make it a 4 frame animation, in a "1, 2, 3, 2" kind of order, but I don't know how his step should be. I tried a ton of different ways and these two were the best ones. They still look bad, though.

Honestly, I think you're trying to get the sprites to do a little much for the frames / animation style (What I think you're going for).  Maybe don't worry so much about the shoulders moving.
