Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: R0x Zero(wip)

:'( :'( :'( So nice! The colors bombard my retinas with blinding bliss!

Main menu: The hands, particularly the knuckles, bug me -- even when grasping the handles, there should be at least a little curve in the knuckle alignment, with the middle-finger knuckle being the most prominent and the little-finger knuckle being a little more 'tucked-in'. I think if you were to just move the little-finger knuckle down, it would pretty much fix this.

EDIT: Actually, I think it's more a problem of the fingers' joints lining up perfectly on a horizontal line.

Are the two objects in the sky which are composed of the pinks and purples going to be clouds? I know that you're early in development, but they seem a little too solid for me; they look almost as though they are going to fall out of the sky. I'm not completely sure, but I think it might either be your high contrast in values within the clouds, or how unnatural they look against a blue sky (almost as thought they have completely different light sources). Or it might be the fact that everything else is still only blocked-out areas of base colors and not yet developed.

Good start!  :y:

I'm having trouble determining where the sides (side facing the viewer) start, and where the tops of objects end; I suggest looking back to the basics, and shade one side darker (e.g. the side facing us), and one side lighter (e.g. the tops of objects).

Find your light source!  ;)

Ah, I see now! I didn't view the reference video because I thought it would just show a couch.  :ouch:

I sorry, but I don't see a couch. What view is it in? If you want use to be able to help you, you will need to refine your image a little more before posting it here. I suggest the line tool for straight edges, and then the pencil tool (zoomed in close) for putting in edges in place of corners.

His right eye needs to be lowered so that it is even with his left eye, his left eye needs to be shifted a little bit to our right (a little!), and that vein on the neck runs at the same angle as the beard that is receding behind the head, making them look to be one and the same (just break this straight line to separate the two).

Beyond that, looking good! Not only does it have a solid palette, it has a nice air of character to it; a solemn, insightful, and aged man.  :y:

I'd rather give you suggestions and let you do the editing

First of all, you need to tweak the palette; you have a lot of whit there that is overly-vibrant. MAybe:

1. Work some greys in there to give it some shape, which in tun makes it a little more understandable to the eyes (at least more understandable than a solid white shape burning a hole through the plane)

or

2. Adjusting your white to be either a slightly-grayed white or an off-white, both of which would be much easier on the eyes.

Also make sure to center your text -- right now it seems squished.

Along with shadows make sure to try and use highlights.

**Designate a light source, and make it apparent to the viewer!

And dont be afraid to work with colors that are desaturated; it helps add to realism.

It's very clean-cut, simple and readable, yet still remains interesting and eye-grabbing. I believe you were meant to make avatars :D

Your highlights are way too strong atm; they look as though they are pure white. Try toning them down just a tad and working some of your skintone (after hue-shifting) into them.

I think your biggest problem is your placement of the shoulders in relation to the torso (they do not look like they are aligned with how the torso's turned, and they don't seem to have been fleshed out during the refining process like the other body parts).

(This is aimed at all three pics)
