There was actually a post that linked to a good tutorial in the past couple days. It's a tutorial I've used before many moons ago.

Hope it helps and I look forward to seeing what you create :D!

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Death Walks
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:56:13 pm »
The blinking image really freaks out my eyes. Everything goes wavy once I look away from it...

Anyways I would class this as pixel art, I don't see why it wouldn't be. The ends justify the means in this case, it has all the trappings of what pixel art is. If the progress wasn't posted I don't think any one would be the wiser. I agree that it looks a lot more pixel perfect in x2 though than x1. Her face looks like it hadn't been pixeled to me but it might be because of how much is going on, especially around her mouth and chin it's only noticeable because I see some dithering puttering away from it.

This is how I thought most people did their pixel art anyways. It makes it feel a lot more natural and painterly while still having an incredibly crisp look which you wouldn't get from a pure cgi image. I'd say using such a messy method might not be the most friendly way to pixel if you are aiming to get something done in a specific time frame though but I wouldn't rule it out if that's the style you're going for.

I look forward to seeing how PJ deals with this when up post it up...

Really cool style I really like the moon!

I've got a crit for your animations. His walk doesn't look like hes walking so much as it looks like he is inching forward one step at a time (unless thats what you were going for). Both his legs and feet should follow an arc that goes both forwards and backwards.  as for the idle animation he looks very blubbery, especially his shoulders. It kind of looks like his shoulders are making a wave that ripples down his arms. I see what you are going for with it but I don't think you've got it just yet, unfortunately I'm not used to doing subpixel animation so I'm not sure how you can fix it. Pretty cool stuff though I look forward to seeing where you take this!

Holy toledo, that guys neck is like a bloody mountain!

Look's pretty cool though, I like how defined his face is. I can't tell if its just the wireframe showing but it looks like he has a hairnet on lol.

This was a cool read, Its a shame it never came to fruition though.
I also am surprised that people voted out your longer style. It's really nice looking and would have been a lot more refreshing to look at than the typical RPG shaped guys.
I really like the new Zilia sprite as well.

what exactly is YI? I've been trying to find some information about it but all I get is basketball players. Might help so I know what style you are trying for.

thanks for the help guys :)

I tried to address most of the issues you guys said. I kept his right hand the same for now though, I thought it might stand out more now that I fixed the contrast up a bit. Hopefully the colours aren't too strong, I always have a terrible time with colours.

Looks really good, I don't have much to say honestly.

Maybe add some highlights to the buttons to make them look a bit more 3d dimensional because right now they look like holes.
