I tried it. It's excellent so far. The biggest issue i had with it was when i clicked on to the screen from my IM window a line would be randomly drawn on the canvas. Not just a single click but a line. This doesn't happen if i switch the window in any other way, just when i change focus by clicking on to the canvas from a window on top.

Tinted glass is to hide the screen bezel. Heaps of cabinets have it. It sits above the monitor. Uhhh I'll try contact my arcade maniac friend and see if he can run a couple of tests, contra with tinted glass above monitor and contra without tinted glass. I think he might have sold his MAME cabinet though.

General Discussion / Re: jack kirby/watchmen comics pallete?
« on: July 24, 2009, 05:40:27 am »
Scott McCloud had a palette in his book Understanding comics that was 3 hues (CYM) and 4 shades of each (~25, 50, 75, 100%). I believe this was prior to the later CYMK system and used flat colours instead of half-tone patterns. From these hues you could mix and get a limited variety of blue, red, green shades. All of this is from memory, I don't have the book on me and couldn't find a scan of the specific section.
Ben2theEdge's suggestion would would too. There are heaps of scans of old comics online too. It shouldn't be that hard to estimate a palette from comics that best fits your idea if you select one era and one publisher.

Are you in CYMK colour space? Or saving to CYMK colour space? I had a similar problem with photoshop.

I suggest something simpler like the desert rider (al faris sahra'i), the rider in the desert (al faris fissahra') or the rider from the desert (al faris manissahra').
But then you'd lose the Arabian Nights pun.

That is a horribly awkward way to push. Have you looked at any references? There are thousands of skate videos on youtube.

flixel, AdamAtomic's actionscript library has been released, along with a new game Mode.

My highscore is 6050. It beat me down bad.

It isn't terribly obvious to me. If you hadn't pointed it out I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Actually. I just flipped it again and it looked way more skewed. Very weird...

General Discussion / Re: Disturbing trend in iPhone games
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:44:21 am »
24: Special Ops. I can't actually find a version that isn't for the iPhone. Sprites appear to be larger than those in X-COM. They created the graphics with the intention of up scaling them with a horrible filter? Or maybe they realized too late in development that the sprites were going to be rather small on the device.
The problem with the iPhone is that it has quite a high pixels per inch ratio so traditional pixel graphics appear puny. Due to the high ppi the graphics probably wouldn't appear quite this ugly on the device either.
