Here's some reduction, especially pay attention to the pixelplacement of the hand ...

Thank you everyone for your comments, they were really helpfull, I tried to incorporate most of it :)

Edit: here's some more stuff I did over the last few months which is mostly unfinished and not that good really.

Meant as a follow-up to the pic in the first post:

Unfinished elements for a website layout:

No anatomy:

Failed attempt at a mockup for a remake of the crappy game "Vixen" (16c from a 12bit palette):

The underlying lineart was bad to start with, this has no depth or whatsoever and texture is way too random:

I'm not too happy with this new pic, the colours are rather plain and boring, some of the plants' textures don't work very well and there's no real point of interest :/

Heh, I know the lead graphics artist of Tibia personally since their company is right here in my town, maybe I should talk to him to improve those graphics ;D

Terley: What exactly do you mean with that? I mean the "almost made it a work of art part"

I agree, if this isn't a piece of art then I don't know. In fact most of the stuff produced here ought to be considered as art ;)

Anyway, the pic is great, I like how you use dithering to shade everything, plus the palette is really cool. I'd suggest adding a lot of wrinkels to the tree's face to make him look older. Plus it fits the texture of bark. When it comes to the dwarf, I'm not too fond of the three spheres you used for the main features of the face, it's a bit too stylized for my taste. But it's not finished anyway, so I'll just shut up for now ;)

Heh, I think that's pretty awesome. It's funny, because after seeing the mech in Starstruck, I decided to create one myself with a pixeled texture, still unfinished. It's not as cool as yours though ^^

I didn't like lowpoly textured stuff either until a few months ago, but somehow I discovered that it has it's own charm.

Besides the pillow shading, I think you should really increase the contrast in your colourpalette. Right now you've got a couple of shades which are really close to each other, and it's hardly possible to discern them at 1x, so it's a waste of colours really. Concerning the shading itself, with the dark shadows you put behind the eyes, it makes them look like they're floating above the surface of the face in combination with the black outline, and I don't know if that was your intention :) Anyway, keep it up!

Made on a real C64 with a Megadrive gamepad :) I'm not too happy with the face, the background was actually more fun to do.
