http://www.askvg.com/how-to-get-the-good-old-ms-paint-without-ribbons-working-in-windows-7/

First result on Google for "get old mspaint on windows 7."

I run into the same page :P, that's why I suggested asking someone who has Vista to copy it. Then I realized I could just copy my Windows XP version to him :P and send it via PM.

Forgot to say im an epic Ms Paint mindless fanboy.  :y:

In reality, I'd prefer any program having the "hold the left/right mouse button and while at it, instant undo by pressing the opposite one" feature, as well as the dual mouse button painting commands.

Other programs might have the fanciest of features, but if they lack the two I mentioned above, then I simply consider them obsolete. After all, everything I need to pixel is a good ol' brush and a trusty zoom.

But the problem remains unsolved -can I get my Vista back?  :'(

You could try downloading it, or ask some friend with Windows Vista or less to copy the exe for you.

I have installed Blender and I have a problem... I do not understand the software. Can some one point me to an easy tutorial that someone like me can understand.
You should search the forum or use Google.

In this thread, madPXL pointed to this web: http://www.blenderguru.com/.
Even Blender's website has tons of tutorials: LINK.
Here is the Blender 3D: Noob to Pro, wikibook.

Wow, new Firefox 'Whats New?' page sucks now. Used to be so simple, with a single link to see in detail all the things added and fixed.

When I read your comment, first didn't get it, because I updated... I don't know, I think it was last week, and everything seemed good. Just updated to 1.6, and yes the new page sucks. They showed you this stupid personas thing which i hate. There is nothing showing NEW things in the what's new page. ¬¬'
It looks more of a page to someone who never used firefox and just installed it.

PS: It worked perfectly! Thanks a lot :D

EDIT: If someone is not comfortable with the new tab behaviour (they open next to the active one, not at the end), change in about:config, tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false.
I had an Add-On that would do that, but is not yet updated to 3.6.

are there any emulators simulate this sort of effect well?
You could try using the tv out of the video card on an old tv. At least when I do that with a normal windows desktop pixels go all crazy and it looks pretty weird.

I agree with ptoing.
Ok, maybe they don't look sharp, but they were made for that kind of monitors, so they were ment to look like that. The only games that were more pixel accurate were the ones with tiny lcd screens, like Gameboy. (Maybe Sonic in a Nomad looks sharper, don't know, never had one, so I don't remember how the screen was).

Is the character supposed to be a gnome/halfling? If not, well, the legs are too short.
He's feet look weird, as well as his hands.
The skirt is semi transparent? If not, I don't think that's how it would look, maybe some wrinkles here and there.

Sorry, I can't help you more.

Am I the only one that thinks the original stands out more and looks like it has more potential? I like the style its got, reminds me of Yoshi's island, it just needs alot of cleaning up and some tweaks here and there. I think it losers that 'drawn' feeling you get from the original.

I agree.
You should try cleaning the outlines of the original, maybe that could help. But it all depends on what you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply mate, however can you please explain what do you mean by "non-tinted grey"?

Example:
Left is not-tinted, right one is.

and i really don't know how to draw legs and eyes.

First of all you should practice your pencil technique, then work on pixel. If you don't know how to draw hands, eyes, legs or anything, pixel is not going to help you do it. You should check the Anatomy Thread here.

Pixel Art / Re: how about this creepy tree
« on: January 14, 2010, 01:01:05 pm »
There are a lot of things to work on.
* Palette: the last tree you posted has 20 colours (if i'm counting right). But they don't feel like that.
* Shape: the are a lot of things to work on the shape of the tree, look more references.
* Shading/Highlight: light and shadows are not just: if light comes from the right, i got shadow on the left. The give away the texture of the object and the volume. Your tree is still very flat.

Here's an edit I made:

I started making the edit before you posted again, then you had a smaller palette, but even then it wasn't very right. You had some colours that were TOO similar.

Hope it helps :)
