Wow...That's insane. Here's the explanation of lines though. Green is clean lines and curves, red is broken lines and curves. On the broken curves I have blue arrows pointing to the pixel cluster that breaks the pattern.

Any thoughts, especially on color?

Not bad for a beginner. You made a few rookie mistakes though.

Linework: Your lines need to be reworked to be more clean.

Shape: I'm not sure what you were going for but the arms look way too long and awkward.

Outlines: Your outlines take away from the sprite rather than add to it, especially at the bottom. When outlining, you made the cloth look like a solid object. It's hard to explain but when you have parts sticking out of something it looks like it's supporting itself. You should let it hang. The outline of the head seemed to confine the light into an area. Not sure that can be helped.

Here I fixed all the mistakes I saw and added my own personal touch. I like my sprites shaded so I added dithering in case you wanted to keep a small color palette.

Good luck with your game.

Thanks, your guy looks a lot more heavy. I also like the yellower skin tone. Although I love the head gear I'm not sure how to do the mawashi. I wanted his stomach to be hanging over it to make him look fatter but the pattern on the belt looks pretty cool. The shading could be improved too.

I agree with curly. It seems you did this with a trackpad. If that's true you should try changing to a mouse. Here's a cleaned up version of your sprite.

I fixed the jaggies, changed the colors of the outlines, slightly changed the shading, and made the markings more organic.

Pixel Art / Sumo Wrestler Arms and Feet Help
« on: May 28, 2017, 06:32:29 pm »
I'm having a bit of trouble with the feet and arms. They are quite weirdly shaped. If anybody could give me feedback on how to improve them I'd very much appreciate it.

Also, this is a piece I'm quite proud of. What level would you place me at: beginner, in between, or intermediate? Thanks!

Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Hopefully this will help with my realistic character sprites.

Thanks for the replies. I tried to edit it based on your feedback. Something just feels weird about how flat the female's stomach is now.

Anybody experienced in anatomy out there? Is this the correct way to highlight the difference between the male and female figure? Thanks.
