Pixel Art / Re: WIP - A set of character faces for game?

The five portraits on the top, something seems wrong. I think it is the alignment of the facial features with the shape of the head. Does anyone else notice that peculiarity?

Forget about blending. That looks more like a clay sword than a metal one.

Metallic objects have broken shading. Study a reference before you continue, unless you like the stonehenge look.

While you continue to work at this wonderful piece, try to step away from the football-shaped eyeballs. It will definitely add to the piece! Also, Opacus's edit looks kind of flat.

They look great, I have one suggestion.... Maybe change the color of the scarecrow? Because it looks more like a leprachaun with the green. Just a thought  :D

On the bright side, the balloons look good!

The wooden sign should be diversified a little. Make it a little imperfect. And the text on there should not be perfect either. It doesn't look right. Make it look like the clown painted it on there with a paintbrush.

Well there are much better way to approach this... For example try making the handle rounder and take some reference from real pic's of swords. (I mean seriously, could you really see some one trying to hold that handle?) Or maybe try and make a more prominent light source. From the blade it looks as though the light is coming in from the right hand side, and on the handle it looks as though it is coming from the top of the image. These are just a few thing you should take into consideration while spriting.

Ive made a rough edit to show you what I mean.

No offense, but that looks more like a dildo than a sword.

The handle of the sword looks proportionally incorrect. It should be twice as long, in my opinion.

I said that unnatural is not bad. Didn't you read what I said?

I THINK this piece could be improved by changing the colors. Color is relative, and when there is nothing to compare the contrast of that rich, vibrant green, to neutralize it, in other words, it is somewhat annoying.

I did a simple color edit to show you what I mean. It's okay to be unnatural, but you must know what you're doing first, so that it looks right! I hope that you understand what I mean now. By all means, continue using the same colors if you wish, I am just trying to help you understand a little bit about color... or what I know of it anyway.

edit: the green i chose is a bit yellow, making the yellow highlights kind of nonexistent. to fix that problem, just pick a green a little less yellowy.

I wouldn't say the combination is necessarily bad, but rather that bright green. I still stand by my earlier opinion, since that color is very unnatural.

Ick! Horrible color combination. Go for something a little more neutral, maybe a duller yellow-green.
