look at some reference pictures, search google.
Waterfalls usually have alot of rocky surfaces, as well as streams which allow the water to easily flow rather than get absorbed by the environment.. There's also usually sand or mud or a mix near the edges where the water transitions into the plants.

Bump-Date:

Just wondering, I've never been good at grass textures and would like to know if this looks like a good start or any tips would be good, or examples.

I think it'd be best to get the general shapes (that Alex mentioned above) down first and then add all the textures and details..

Large blocks of shading which define the lightsource.

Thanks, I planed on doing most of that but it's a wip so itt'll probobly be worked into the finished version, thanks for the tips. :y:

Why wait till the image is near complete before adding anything but the minorest of details and tweaks? Do it early to save yourself work later.

Why does the stream turn back up into the sky?

well there's no sky view in the shot because of the angle and it turns into a small pond.

looking very nice so far, ill post an edit in a Minute.

alright, the point of this edit is to show you how the water should fall on the rocks.  notice how its got a (near) right angle on the dropoff, and its not curvy.

ignore the crappy rocks, i cant be bothered to do decent ones now.

The top fall is soposed to barely be a fall then a big drop thats why its on about 115 degree angle.

If its "barely a fall" then surface tension should make it stick to the rocks beneath...
Either that or it should come away a bit before curving sharply down.
Honestly, though I've never seen a stream come away from its..."perch" like that without continuously curving downward to a steeper, if not 90 degree, angle. Your water seems like it's just...unaffected by earthly gravity.
As Eck's edit also fixes, the streams continuation should be just beneath the waterfalls' start anyway. Yours looks like it's offset upwards.

Hmmm... I dont think youre quite getting what im trying to capture, I told you when it's done you will get whats going on in the scene.
And how ironic, i was working on rock almost exactly like yours.

Use ecks color pallete. Its alot better, when you use darker colors try to use cooler colors, and when you using a lighter color, go to war ones.

Bump_Date:

How does the water look should it be textured different, I've never done a scene like this. I also split the water a little bit with rocks.

This kind of texture is an option:

This is just a rough sketch, you can make it better.
I'm not sure about how to draw the water on the rocks..
