Pixel Art / Re: Cyberpunkable characters [WIP, C+C]
« on: September 05, 2011, 12:18:24 pm »
Are they really meant to be so dark?
They're too dark AND saturated in my opinion, if they have to be so dark (for game mood needs) at least you should lower the saturation a bit!

Actually, after doing some testing in photoshop, they're way too dark for a dark background too xD They blend too much..

Btw, don't use pillow shading!

Ooooh Phlakes, that's great!! Two pixel differnce and you've made a HUGE improvement! This is the essence of pixel art!!

Okay, so, I tried adding a lot of stuff just to test

I fixed the direction of light/shadow, added some anti-aliasing, a lighter green-yellow color for the armor, a lighter brown-pink color for the skin, added some blue reflection on the armor (because of the blue pants and shirt),also hue shifted a bit : D

Tell me what you think about this edit!

I think you should let him look like a penis thing, it's far more scarier that way : )

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: The Werecrow!

For those that attempt pixel art and think this way, I have this to say - You're lazy. Your stuff will always be on a lower plane that of your pixel heroes. Good art takes hard work and dedication. If a concept can be fully rendered without serious polishing work put into it, how much merit can it have? Potential wasted.

I honestly thought your werecrow, when you first posted it, was halfway done - shapes all roughed in, things still looking very mirrored, all pixels looking rough, strays needing cleaned. Yet it's on PJ already.

These are only my opinions. But they're principles I live by, too.

Would love to to do a makeover edit of your werecrow, because I love the character, and I think I maybe convince you to put a little more work into your stuff, but don't feel I can take the time right now.

you're a wise pixel artist, sir  :'(
