most mobile games are small enough that only 1 artist could do all the graphics.. i dont understand why you're requesting people to get into teams.
Also, shouldnt this be more focused towards the programming aspect of making a mobile phone game.. i think most of us here already have a handle on the art side of things..
how do we know that you won't simply take our art and use it in your own games?..
Good questions!
I want you to set up teams, but a team can have between 1 and several members. Ifyou can handle everything yourself, then announce yourself as a team. This is done because we will be making one game per team and not one game per person, and I hope there will be less teams than people.
Those people who know me know that I am a professional developer, and I do not steal graphics. If I need to make a game myself then I make it myself (I am a decent senior spriter) and when I don't feel like creating sprites myself I hire people to do it. Sohei and Fabian are two spriters that I found here on Pixelation that have been working for me for several months now, and got paid quite well for each job... and they're probably the best spriters I've seen
So to answer your questions: No, I will not take your graphics and use it in my own game. I don't do such dishonest things. But the project does not require that you submit anything beautiful. I want you to use your own stuff because I want to teach you how to update the game with your own stuff. For all I care, you can borrow something from the internet if you like, just as long as it's not something I'm already using in my game.
Lysek is kinda quirky and his first language isnt english, but he is not dishonest...if you're interested go along with this.
All true, thank you!
And you will end up with your own Mobile Phone game, you have my word.
I would love to follow along with this but can't say I'd be able to participate in the format you are suggesting. I just had a baby, moved, and started work as a dishwasher at a diner so I don't have the freetime or availability to be apart of a team as most here might. But this sounds to be an invaluable lesson that could lead to filling a portfolio for a career someday perhaps. So I'm hoping that you'll post up resources for those not chiming in with set teams to follow along with.
Take your time, and tag along at your own speed. We are in no hurry, and I will help each team at their own tempo. But I have quite a bit of know-how to share... which may turn out valuable if you use it right. Yes, your portfolio may indeed grow...
I want try this do we need special programs for the programing?
Yes, but they are all free, and I will set up easy-to-follow visual guides in PDF format that you may install and use those tools without ANY problems, just follow my lead!
So... correct me if I'm wrong, but we have 3 TEAMS then?
TEAM 1:
* Raytheon
TEAM 2:
* Argyle
TEAM 3:
* aregon810
First of all you (each TEAM) will need to create the following things:
1. One background 320x320 (your own, or simply borrow a background from the internet, and if you have problems, let me know and I'll help out)
I used this myself for once:
2. One hero sprite, a ship like this for example:
3. Two (or more) enemies, like these:
..and when you're all done, please post them here!
After that, we'll start by updating the SpaceBat game with your graphics!
Borrow graphics from the internet if you don't want to make it yourself!
