Evil eye, I like the cape motion a lot more in your version.
Kinda seems like it just flaps up though, no real motion.

That wasn't my edit.

I was seconding Sardone's edit. Sorry for the confusion   :blind:

The sword swing was the part I liked, didn't really notice the cape.

This is a male or female?

If male the hips are too wide and the upper body too slender. And the chest looks like breasts.

If female the shoulders are too broad and the forearms a tad too thick.

Dunno if this is the same thing as your program but there is a program called TileStudio, that lets you design tiles and design a map with them. I usually just use photoshop but I tried it and it isn't bad.

Thanks for commenting. What do you mean about the view? Its got eyes.

Better?
I removed dithering, and added the leg lightningy thing.

Less Jumpy

Not really what I meant. You had 2 frames ( frame 4 and frame 8 ) where the head was 1 pixel too high. If you wanted a sharp bob in the run then it works but if you don't here is what it should look like. Also slowed it down a bit so you can see it better

My confusion about the direction was partially because I didn't know that the eyes were eyes, looked like ears and the green spot looked like a facemask.

But also the left arm looked bent backwards making it seem like you're looking at his back. Fixed in the newer version

The new version looks flatter but the lighting is clearer

Good overall pixeling, but exactly what view are the shaded ones?

front / back or side? Really, its hard to tell. And either way the light source is a little whacked.

V1 are better then V2 IMO. V2 is too dithered. Don't dither so much the sprite is way too small for it.

Running animation looks good but might be bouncing too high.

This gets my vote as the most believable attack edit posted so far.

Looks better.

I am not a big fan of lone strands of pixels sticking out, like with some of the grass.

Here is a quick edit:

When you make grass put down the darkest shade first as your outline, then add the lighter shades consecutively.

Like so:

And hopefully the result will look like grass  :blind:

On closer inspection the dirt looks fine. Its probably just style but I like things a little lighter and not so "hard" looking. To each his own.

The stones look out of place, almost like teeth growing out of the ground.

I don't know about the black shadows, It might be better if you put a less saturated version of your foreground tile as the shadow part.

The grass seems to be missing some color variation, maybe a few yellow or orange blades here or there.

Same with the dirt. Its all the same hue of brown, mix it up a little.

Ya add some detail then well talk.

The grass is a little blueish, but that can still work.

His head seems more elephant then squid.

He needs eyes ( big bulging ones ) on the side not the front, and maybe lose the brows.
