Maybe he has a different program so different dither outcomes.
Anyways, I did it in photoshop, but I tried a few different things.
- Tried a simple reduction, but used the numbers of colours he used with a pattern dither reduction method. This came out a bit different, but not far.
- Copied his pallette and reduced the picture using his palette with a pattern dither reduction method. Was similar to the above.
- Last I tried reducing it without any dithering. This came out the closest to his in terms of pixel-placement similiarities, even though there was no dithering. There were just a lot of pixels that were almost exactly the same. In the pictuer, note the placement of the highlights on the shoulder.
I'll post all three pictures later. The key here though is the picture and all the details, even if not pixel perfect, is near exactly the same. I figure this was a reduction/clean-up job. The main things that make a big difference is the gun and legs.
Like I said before, I did this in photoshop, maybe another program can dither up th same results as his picture.
