Wolfenstein-ish guy and smoke

on: December 05, 2006, 09:42:14 am
Doodling around during class.

I'll update my little creature with a santa hat when class is over.

EDIT//

Noticed that his left thigh is a bit long.

I think the lack of a face is a problem, though i can see maybe your going for a 'looking from below and he's looking up' but it doesn't
seem to work imo. I like the monkey island type clouds, think this will be good when you finish the piece.
Modern artists are told that they must create something totally original-or risk being called "derivative".They've been indoctrinated with the concept that bad=good. The effect is always the same: Meaningless primitivism

It looks good at first glance, but I can't help but to feel that there's something wrong with his "front leg". It looks twisted, as if it's being bent in some strange fashion. I can understand it if he's twisting his torso, and he's really standing with his feet pointing to the left of the picture. But if he's meant to be moving forward, it's twisted from below the knee. I'm at work now, so I can't give you any edits.

At first I intended him to jjust stand and be coolish, but that was boring. SO I made him walk towards the viewer. Then I started messing with the face, and I didn't really get satisfied, so I made a version I could stand and will fix the face last. Then I got the idea that he's walking into the picture, but has spotted something (like say an airplane) and turns to look at it. I know the leg looks really messed up, hopefully I can fix it. If you make an edit that would be sweet.

looks awesome Victor but I don't think muscles show up that much through any top.

Deffo sort out his face, it just looks soo un-natural.. commin on really well otherwise, love the stylish smoke personally.
I've not got anything interesting to type here..

This really needs some work.

I love the concept but I think you should have reworked the anatomy a bit. The upper leg is slightly longer than usual and the foot in the foreground seems to be bowlegged. The pixeling is a bit messy and there isn't enough contrast in some areas. also the face- as said before- needs more attention.

My suggestions:

Re do it or atleast take some time to go over your pixel placement.
Make the shirt different a colour from the clouds. Study basic anatomy.
