I think if you replace the sel-out with outlines that obey the light source, you'll have a better image. The dark outlines look more cartoony/flat than the rest of the image so the sel-out is an improvement, but I think you can make it better by removing the random dark pixels that make it sel-out, and just making it a coloured/shaded lineart.

Here's what I meant. The outlines are darker in the shadows, and there are no random dark pixels in the lit areas.
