Im feeling lucky about this. This is topic nr 7777 o.O

Anyway
I slightly changed the nose, but further more I think it looks like me ;).
I wish I knew what to do with the hair.

With a camera I get a static image, I think its more learnful (for me) to use this mirror now :). Also I can slightly change my pose or whatever when I want, and I can check things about volume just by rotating my head ;)

Arnes palette, dogmeats idea, my face.

I use a small mirror next to me, but my aim is at the moment not to make it look like me as much as possible now, its hard enough without that too. Anyway, here is my wip!

Mario looks a bit stiff compared with Luigi, because his shoulders are very high.
I think you could easily do his neck and shoulders the same way as on Luigi?

I am actually going for the last one..

The red really helps you focusing on the face, and the blue smaller hairdo is very pleasing to see while you are looking there anyway :)

The hair going over his face looks like it could be his eye too. Maybe you can modify it in a way so it can not be seen as an eye? It looks very weird if you are not looking closely :(

Furthermore I find the pose a bit strange.
In a good way actually, but I think you can clarify the shape of the body with a bit of animation, I really hope to see some :)

Well, smooth things out!

Most of the inner lines of those things are very very jaggy! While if they would be made out of gold, they would be very very smooth!

Also get it more yellowish (search for golden items in the pixeljoint gallery as soon as it is online again).

Your colors are overall a bit of a mess I see now. I wanted to make an edit, but its too messy to make something good of it quickly..

Take down that color count. Remove the green and the red for now, you can add it lateron again if its really needed. Or make the gems very green too. But I cut out the creature and there were 28 colors!

How about 8 colors for the hair (max) and than 5 colors for the gold, where you can combine the bright and the dark colors of the hair again with the gold ramp?

Get your palette a bit more neat :)

I believe that the color of the 'wood?' and the hoes could be more shiny gold, like in the originals.

Also, the piece of hair above his left fore leg (on the right side of it) is a bit messy, and the light stripe on the tail looks very weird and unrealistic.

This grey is maybe how he is, but its a bit boring. If you are going for a blue background, how about going for a tiny bit of yellowish in his fur? However this would not be too good because of the thing build around him: its yellowish too. So how about a green background maybe? Flying above or running in one? Than you could do a slightly purpleish creature :)
Just slightly, so it does not look so grey.

Thats my suggestions about the colors :)
