Pixel Art / [WIP] Profile
« on: June 20, 2007, 03:45:06 pm »
Trying to get back into pixel art after not doing anything for six months.

A Profile shot of a guy.

I used this as a reference, not for shaping but shading.
I tried to mimic Terley's shading style in terms of color and dithering, though I believe mine is at best a poor imitation.

Regardless, I'd like any help I could get.

Pixel Art / Portrait WIP

I have about ten saves as I was working through this. If someone desires to see them.
I also have this reference image.
I think I made her a bit too wide, and my love for this pallete is quickly fading, but I also believe that it's coming along fairly well.

What do you say? How and where can I improve this?

Some lines I've put together. Inspired by what Terley is working on currently.
Anything I should fix before coloring?

General Discussion / On the Merits of Editing.
« on: October 11, 2006, 06:52:19 pm »
A bit of an argument is raging in another forum, on the Merits of Editing Sprites.
The debate is on whether or not editing others sprites should be acceptable, regardless of legality(the sprites in question are of Public Domain).
One opinion is that editing is a waste of time and cheapens pixel art.
The other is that it is a viable means of learning a style, and a good method for up and coming pixel artists.
Being amongst the best pixel artists out there, I wanted to know all of your opinions.
