Yesterday I was traveling by train and while I waited in Stockholm for my train I took up my laptop and listened to some music and stuff. I got an urge to do some pixeling, so I decided to experiment a little. I started GraphicsGale and started doodling, with the touchpad. Heres the result.  :)

Her breasts look very unnatural to me.

I've worked on the tiles a little more, and I've gotten to this:



I'm still not sure about the actual sand, although I like the grass, they could be improved more possibly.

I'm working on the graphics for the intro level for my game, and I'm not sure about what I've come up with so far. Here it is:



Pic 1. Just the tiles put together

Pic 2. The red line shows where the player can stand, go against.

Pic 3. Tiles broken up.

There's supposed to be tufts of grass here and there, and an occasional bush. Though I haven't come that far yet.

I know it doesn't look right at some level, but I can't pinpoint it (I'm too tired, been up very verry long today, allnighters takes their toll =P )

Heres the sillouette of my main char (if you want a reference to the tiles):



Any suggestions, edits and crits are extremely welcome.

EDIT// Moved the pics to photobucket. I couldn't get into pb yesterday for some reason so I put the files on my schoolserver instead.

Yet another sprite for the game. This is the commander of a big aircraft the player "infiltrates" at a point in the game.



EDIT// Fixed some stuff. Changed the color of the eyes from black to my dark blue shade, added some details on the medal-thingies and collar, and I fixed his feet/shoes. Felt they were a little too big.

I find that the best thing about Gale is the guide lines that appear when you use the selection tools. Just on of those small things which saves a lot of time.

I was listening to "Budget Meeting" from the King Arthur soundtrack when reading this. Made for a very unusual reading experience. :)

This one is the best:

Where am I five years from now? Well, after graduating from university I'll hopefully hop aboard either DICE or Starbreeze to get some industry experience, then maybe start an indie-studio, if I can find other people to join me. I hear Capcom is branching out in Europe so there's that possibility too.

In the artistic sense, I'll probably have a stronger style in my drawings. Hopefully I'll have one or several comics in the works and finished. If I could get one published it would be awesome. (and I'm talking about comics in hardcover or pocketbooks. I like to make longer stories)

why is photoshop not suggested?
Probably becuase there are a lot of features  (well, all of them :P) in PS which doesn't help you when doing pixelart. Those new to both PS and pixelart willl probably drown in the features of PS. It's better to use a more scaled down graphics editor which only have the necessary features. I'd say GraphicsGale is a good option, since there's a free edition available.
