Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] E-arth
« on: April 10, 2009, 10:25:03 am »
Wow thanks for this great comment!
I wanted to make a world which is in between cartoony and realistic actually, since I might not be able to pull full realistic off.
Might sound a bit strange..such a style, but I'm gonna try it. It's semi-detailed.

My idea was to make a globe which has Europe on it, since that's my home, but all the space pictures from earth are showing Africa, America or a lot of clouds.
The good thing about this ref was that is is already spherized (unlike a world map).
But I'll first get the shore lines good now, so thanks ^_^

Yes, I do mean earth.
I'm busy for my portfolio website atm and I've decided to make my 'home' page, my actual home. As in planet Earth.

Here's the reference

And here's my image

Btw Alaska and Spain are 'done'. Don't really like Spain yet though. The rest is just a basic for what it's gonna be
Please comment, positive or negative, all is welcome.

Ok, I tried some more stuff ^_^
I'd really like critique and help on a few of these. And Yes!, I WILL do something with your critique.

A ball that will be floating to some sort of robotic character (will make the guy later).

I like the pose I made on this on, but I can't seem to get a decent head on. And his front knee is..too low, but when I make it higher it's also strange.

I actually made this one of a reference that I drew myself. The colors were in a very strict color palette and I sort of used ALL the colors. So can't really change the colors. (can change the shading though). And I dislike my grass.
Also don't mind the animation on this one. I'm still working on it (mostly the legs) and I don't really know how to animate in GraphicsGale yet (as in, he switches frames WAY too fast).

*edit*
Yes, I know my pictures are small. I works easier IMO and I also like it small, so I can use it in games.

Just a random thing. I like the mountains. And don't mind his 'legs' please, still thinking of what I should put there.

Ok that was it for now. Help/Critique is REALLY appreciated.

A lot of what's been discussed on this other recent thread applies here as well:

Yeah I did, before making this tree. Though how you made the extra branches is still a clue to me. I really like the way you did it, but can't do them myself.

Pixel Art / First Post and First Pixel Art

Hi there,

As the topic says, this is my first post and first pixel art. I'm hoping to get a lot of criticism, since I'm planning to become a Pixel Artist.
The only thing that bothers me is the color of the highlight of the bark. I can't seem to find a good color.
I didn't use any reference for this image.
Further info of myself.
I'm studying Game Design and I'm specializing in Game Design itself and I want to do Pixel Art and game prototyping in the meanwhile.

P.s. more work is coming
