[WIP] Isometric City

on: January 28, 2008, 10:28:17 pm
C & C is welcome. This pixel art is my first city in isometric style of pixel art. I'm fairly new to pixel art and I don't know all of the techniques that make masterpieces, but I would be more than happy if you could give me some C & C. Tell me if these images are taking too much space in the post, and if they are, should I put them in a thumbnail?

Edit: I added some trash cans and a satellite and some other minuscule details

Patience my friend patience!

I can see some serious influence of Eboy here, and you've even copied a few small objects. Like that satellite antenna. :mean:
It's NOT ok to rip others artwork!
It's OK, as long as you're the artist, and you drew the lines!
Pixelart takes patience and practise!
Pixel art is the ability to endure waiting, or provocation without becoming annoyed or upset, or to persevere calmly when faced with difficulties, which you face basically all the time! That's the time when you starting to give up, a true pixel artists spirit is patience!
It's not very hard to see that you've got interest for pixel art!
And BTW, try to erase the black outlines.
Good Luck!

Hope you understood my english

I think its a little precipitated to say someone has copied EBOY out of the fact that they are using isometric pixelart style.

an artist should be asked for proof that the art is theirs, but complainers should also be asked for proof when making acusations.

"Pixel art is the ability to endure waiting, or provocation without becoming annoyed or upset, or to persevere calmly when faced with difficulties, which you face basically all the time! That's the time when you starting to give up, a true pixel artists spirit is patience!"

What?

Image size doesn't matter! It's what you do with your pixels that counts!

well theres a clear inspiration yeah, but from that to ripping is a big distance. and if someone that gets inspired by another artist could pointed at for that, them every single artist in this forum would have to be pointed at.

No there is not.  These are straight rips, with bad edits.  Plus the scene doesnt exactly fit together, it looks like you have ripped bits from different places and therefore none of it matches.

Plus i have seen that grey flower pot in one of those iso tutorials before.

doesn't make it any less his work. unless you can show me that he erased everything around eboy's image. and yes I have overlayed the graphics that were posted.
just cause I copy someone's work doesn't mean I didnt put my time in it or my effort. maybe its a style ripoff but unless I'm trying to make money out of it, theres really no big problem on copying people's work. specially if you want to learn.
if that was the case, then avery activity that would involve trying to mimic someone's style with be a ripoff galore

Read the rules.  If you copy work you must at least give reference or we will assume you're trying to hide something.

And no, copying work is the complete opposite of learning.

These don't look like straight rips to me, but it's too close for comfort in any case and this thread shall be locked. ccaveman recieves one strike for this. If he'd like to discuss it with me he can feel free to do so in pms.
