General Discussion / Re: Need tablet pc: good, the bad and the ugly?

I'm looking to get a HP Compaq TC4400 in the next week or 2, quite keen to be able to draw away from the desk, perhaps get some work done in the quieter hours at uni. Cheers for all the insight Argyle. I assume I'll be sticking with my intuos for when I'm wanting serious productivity, but all this talk of drawing on the couch and internet from wherever is very appealing.

A grungy portrait, intended to be some ageing rocker reflecting on life or something.

Essentially a painting study. The hair was good fun. Ear's a bit low and big. Could have done with a bit less bloom on the light stuff in retrospect.

The turquoise could be moss anyway. Consider throwing a colour in there and adding some lighter patches to it if you want to go that way.

I figured I'd save thread-space, unless I've missed another thread somewhere else?

Good to see it back up. Any estimate on the non-default theme being back? I've got the boring SMF default here.

Working on rendering a bit. Unhappy with the eyes and throat mostly (they look unfocussed and withered respectively), and perhaps the lips a little.
Self portrait.

fwiw the ship tweaks are looking niiiice :D

Liking the unit progression as well. Make some mockups, or dare I say it code something. I'd like to see how it'll look in action.

Gameplay wise you might be able to get away with streaming chunks of world and just generating on the fly. I guess the great thing about wastelands is they're uh, messy. Well suited for lazy procedural generation. Wandering about in a random world fighting some fools here and there would be fun. You just have to make sure the interface is easy to use quickly - sending 50 walk orders to get across one "map square" isn't very much fun if you've already cleared it. Your CLI might help address this as long as you have acceptable pathfinding and the option to interrupt orders. Be interesting to see an interface like that used in real-time, actually.

The only problem I have with your work is that you always seem to misplace shiny anime eyes on top of grizzled veterans quite a bit. The colors are very nice in this, however! Very warm and earthy.
Hahah, perhaps. Eyes are pretty shiny in my experience though, just perhaps a little less than I tend to portray them. Glad you like the colours, I was happy with them too :)

edit; oh yeah also

Lazy but pretty fun to put together.

New tablet :D just testing the waters last night, haven't done large pieces for a while.
Edit: just fyi, I'm well aware of the anatomy issues (flat face, borked right eye, etc). Criticism is welcome, but don't go too overboard as it's more of a doodle than Serious Business.
