hummmm,you could do it like this (with 5 colors ) :



so for advices :
don't use several colors for such a little size. This character has similar colors in head and shirt, so you could use the same ones.
Don't create a "blur" in your pixel to make a sort of antialiasing. In you sprite, it's seems to be a sort of photoshop resizing...

Finaly, you could use originals colors instead of "greys"

Whist everything Madsk8tard said applies and his edit is great, I did my own edit keeping it more your style (I did go a bit OTT on the hair but nm lol) again only 5 colours.

I know that he doesn't made it with it

I said that because he used too many colors and he created a sort of blur on the head.
