Gil, thanks for your edit, I understand well what you mean. but I need a more " two-dimensional" solution. I will make other attempts.

thank you very much for these new and valuable feedbacks. Regarding the discourse on realism I basically agree with you. However what we are going to do is not a combat simulator, but an adventure, where a weary hero must face enemies more and more dangerous with no rest. I think the pose of a character, especially in pixel art, must provide evidence concerning its psychology, since there is no space to suggest it with facial expressions. In this case, I prefer more a narrative approach than a simulative one. Anyway thanks a lot, I will take into account your suggestions.

First, thank you. Then, you are right, I expressed myself badly: with "anatomically correct" I meant "the posture", not the proportions, which are a stylistic choice. I prefer the first pose too, but I just wanted to be sure.  But is there a way to save the second one in your opinion? maybe I will need that too.
thanks again!

Hi guys! A question for you: I need to figure out which pose of these two models works better. Are they "iconic" and anatomically correct? What do you think? The character should hold a sword and possibly a shield and it should have the same shape and proportion of the standing model. Thanks a lot!  :)

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Epic Tribal Character

Guys, thank you for your valuable insights and the edits you’ve made!
I actually didn’t specify the cultural context this “tribal hero” belongs to, but after all it’s not much the outfit I was interested in, but rather a stylistic solution which is both realistic in the proportions and stylised and plain in forms and colours.
Anyways, I’ve tried to put your suggestions to good use and this is the result. The only problem yet to be solved is the chest, which I’m struggling to depict without exceeding with details. I even thought about leaving it as it is.
As far as proportions are concerned, I’m more inclined to portray him as a romantic hero such as Ulysses rather than a brutal one like Conan or Kratos. I mean, preferably athletic and smart more than brawny.
Finally, then, I’ve decided to remove the ponytail as it seemed to remind too much of Khal Drogo.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Epic Tribal Character

Hi everybody,
I need your help to judge and improve this character from an upcoming platform-adventure game I am working on. He should be a tribal hero, setting off for a long travel to unexplored lands. The atmospheres are mature, gloomy and at times melancholic.
Do you think it is technically convincing? How could it be improved stylistically, considering we’d rather not add too much detail to prevent an excess of realism?
I’m very impressed by the talent of the artists here in the forum, so I look forward to getting some feedback from you  :)
