Unpaid Work / Looking for Fellow Pixel Artists {Unpaid; Collab Effort}
« on: January 09, 2017, 03:16:58 pm »
Hey guys, this is Arkenova and I'm looking for pixel artists that I can collab with for my indie title, an 2D action platformer called DragonBlossom. If any of you are familiar with Freedom Planet (which I'm sure you are familiar with since it's been a big hit), that artstyle is the format that I'm pretty much aiming for, however, I want someone to help me change it up a bit more than that (I'm mostly aiming towards the Sonic Advance series but I still want to keep the retro feeling like the classic Sonic games in a sense).

Other inspirations besides Sonic include: Donkey Kong Country series, Klonoa and many others in fact.

A little history: this project has been going on for four years (started in late 2012 - early 2013) as it had been struggling for us to keep up with. In fact, I've been, along with our animator and another individual, had been working on trying to keep up with this and let me tell you, it's not easy for the artists of the group. We're quite limited on what we can work with, especially to the fact that I'm responsible for HUD, mugshots, tiles and other means with artwork.

More info is here: https://forums.mfgg.net/showthread.php?tid=361

As for the game, it is heavily based off from mostly oriental folklore, mythologies and concepts with some twists, but in short, Ayasuka, the main lead, and her friends are caught up in the middle of a conflict as a mysterious yet ancient evil has been reawakened and threatens the four Kingdoms. However, is there more to this that meets the eye?

You may contact me on here, Discord { Arkenova#5822 }, dA (by NOTE) { Arkenova } or via e-mail: { arkenova89@gmail.com }. I'll be glad to share the details (story and otherwise).

Oh and one more thing, everything you want on the game's current visuals and stuff is found in the link below: http://arkenova.deviantart.com/gallery/41747096/Project-Dragonblossom

Interested parties may reply to this or contact me. Thanks!
*Note: May change in the future when I do have funds.

Pixel Art / Re: Arke's Random Pixelart Thread
« on: August 26, 2016, 06:22:54 pm »
Hmm, yeah, that needs to be fixed, but I already could see several more of visual mistakes that needs addressing. Oh and another thing, thanks for the compliment; I had been doing it for several years (On and off in 2008, 2010, but solid in from 2013 and onwards).

Anybody can be an awesome pixel artist as long as they keep going and improve. You can do it as long as you keep at it!  ;)

Pixel Art / Arke's Random Pixelart Thread
« on: August 26, 2016, 02:48:30 am »

My first pixelart piece to be put in a Pixelation forum is this character sprite of Lemmy Koopa that I had recently finished. I'm really curious on how you guys would view it though; any suggestions for me to follow through with? Like is there anything in terms of how the shading should be and whatnot? Any concerns you want to bring up? Please let me know, your criticism helps out a lot for a rising pixel artist such as myself among many others.  :)

General Discussion / Re: Read the Rules, then introduce yourself here.

Hello all. My name is Arkenova (aka Arke), I'm 26 years old and as you all may notice, I'm the lead to an 16-32ish bit indie game project that has been running 3 years strong (despite of the 2nd year being the massive revamp process to lean it away from Freedom Planet's concept and sorta mold it into it's own thing), it's called DragonBlossom, which is essentially a mashup of the oldschool games and the hidden gems (well, since I DO love Klonoa, the Ape Escape series and such). I started pixelart around 2008 and 2010 but I didn't get serious until 2013 onwards and now, even though I'm still learning, I look forward with confidence.

As a kiddo in the 90s, I loved the 8, 16 and 32 bit games, with the most notable being Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic 2 was fun but I loved 3 & Knuckles!), Super Mario Bros. (the 3rd/World games were awesome) and even the Donkey Kong Country games (I love DKC2 to bits though the original and the 3rd game were fun as well).

Well, anyways, I came around here to make friendships with others and try to improve on my pixelart experiences as an individual, all in the meanwhile, as I continue with development for my passion project of an indie game.

Speak to you guys soon!~  ;D
