You're running around the Valley, trying to finish a quest for Scrooge or maybe just trying to stockpile some gems for a rainy day, and you realize you're short on peridot. It’s that bright, lime-green gem that looks like it belongs in a tropical cocktail.
Honestly, it’s one of the easier gems to track down once you know the path, but if you're just hitting random rocks, you're going to waste a lot of energy. I've spent hours circling the map and, let me tell you, there is a method to the madness.
Basically, if you want to know where to find peridot in Dreamlight Valley, you need to stick to two very specific biomes. You aren't going to find this stuff in the Plaza or up in the chilly Frosted Heights.
The Best Spots for Mining Peridot
You only have two options here. Dazzle Beach and the Peaceful Meadow. That’s it. If you’re mining anywhere else, you’re looking for the wrong rocks.
The Peaceful Meadow Route
This is usually where players find their first few peridots. It’s the area right below the Plaza where Goofy lives. There are about six mining nodes scattered around the perimeter. I usually start near the stairs leading down from the Plaza and work my way clockwise.
The nodes here are pretty reliable. You’ll often get Garnets too, but Peridot pops up frequently enough that a single lap usually nets you at least one or two.
Dazzle Beach: The Better Bet?
Dazzle Beach is technically the second spot. I find the nodes here a bit more spread out, which is kind of a pain. You’ve got rocks tucked against the cliffside near the entrance to the Forest of Valor and others near the Cave where you first met Ursula.

There are also a couple of nodes hidden behind the grassy area near the ramp. Don't skip those. Sometimes the most annoying rocks to reach are the ones holding the Shiny Peridots.

Mining is a grind. We all know it. But you can make it significantly less of a chore if you come prepared.
Bring a Buddy
Never, and I mean never, go mining alone. If you have a villager assigned to the Mining Role, bring them along. When they’re at Level 10, they have a massive chance to "find" an extra gem every time you pull one from a rock. It essentially doubles your loot for zero extra work.
Watch for the Glow
Sometimes you'll see green crystals sticking out of the black mining nodes. That’s a guaranteed Peridot. However, even if the rock looks like a plain black slab, hit it anyway. Gems often hide inside nodes that show no external signs of wealth.

The Five-Minute Rule
Mining nodes in Dreamlight Valley operate on a timer. It takes roughly five minutes for a node to respawn after you've depleted it. If you’ve cleared both the Meadow and the Beach, you’ve probably spent about four minutes. By the time you run back to the start of your loop, the first rock should be nearly ready to go again.
Shiny Peridot vs. Regular Peridot
There’s a big difference here, and it’s mostly about the money (and sometimes specific Star Path duties).
- Regular Peridot: Sells for 200 Star Coins. Used in a ton of crafting recipes and quests.
- Shiny Peridot: Sells for 800 Star Coins. These are much rarer and have a distinct, brilliant sparkle when they drop.
Kinda frustratingly, you can't use a Shiny Peridot in a recipe that specifically asks for a regular one. I’ve made that mistake before. Keep your shinies in a separate chest so you don't accidentally gift them to a villager who would have been perfectly happy with the cheap version.
Pro Tips for Efficient Farming
If you are seriously low on gems and need a lot of Peridot fast—maybe for one of those "Mine 5 Peridot" duties—you should use a Pickaxe Polish.
You can craft the Miracle Pickaxe Polish or the Even More Miracle Pickaxe Polish at any crafting bench. These potions make it so every single swing for the next several nodes results in a gem drop. It’s expensive in terms of Dreamlight and Vitalys Crystals, but it saves an incredible amount of real-world time.
Also, keep your energy bar in the gold. Eat some cooked meals (I usually just toss five fruit into a pot for a basic salad) to get that yellow stamina bar. It makes you move faster and, according to a lot of players in the community, seems to slightly nudge the RNG in your favor for rarer drops.
Common Misconceptions About Gem Spawns
I've seen some people claim that time of day matters for gem spawns. It doesn't. Whether it’s 2 AM or noon, the drop rates for Peridot remain the same.

Another weird myth is that the "luck" stat of your character affects it. There isn't really a luck stat in the game like in Stardew Valley. It’s all about biome-specific loot tables and the level of your mining companion.
