Where is Morgott Elden Ring? Finding the Omen King Without Getting Lost

Finding out exactly where is Morgott in Elden Ring can feel like a fever dream. You’ve probably already met him—sorta. If you remember that absolute wall of a boss, Margit the Fell Omen, who bullied you at the entrance of Stormveil Castle, then you’ve met the man. But Morgott is the real deal. He’s the actual King of Leyndell, and he is tucked away in the very heart of the Royal Capital. Honestly, the hardest part isn't even the fight itself; it’s navigating the absolute labyrinth of golden streets and giant tree roots to get to his front door.

Getting into the Royal Capital

You can’t just stroll into Leyndell. Before you even worry about where is Morgott, you have to prove you’re actually worth a damn. You need at least two Great Runes (like the ones from Godrick or Rennala) and you have to have visited the Roundtable Hold to get Enia’s blessing.

Most people take the Altus Plateau route, head through the Outer Wall, and then face off against the Draconic Tree Sentinel. This guy is a jerk. He guards the north entrance to the city. Once he's dead, you’re finally inside, but the real "Where is Morgott?" scavenger hunt begins here.

The Path Through Leyndell to the Elden Throne

Leyndell is massive. It’s vertical, confusing, and full of those annoying trumpet-playing guys. Here is the basic, no-nonsense path to reach the boss:

  1. Avenue Balcony: This is your main hub. From here, you need to head down to the main street where the Erdtree Avatar spawns.
  2. The Dragon Wing: See that massive, petrified dragon? Climb its wing. It’s the only way to move from the lower streets to the upper ramparts.
  3. West Capital Rampart: After climbing the wing and following the path, you’ll find this Site of Grace.
  4. The Tree Roots: This is where it gets weird. You have to walk up the massive Erdtree roots that weave through the buildings.
  5. Godfrey’s Sanctuary: Following the roots leads you to the Erdtree Sanctuary, where you fight a golden shade of Godfrey, First Elden Lord.
  6. Queen's Bedchamber: After beating the shade, go out the balcony, walk up another root, and you'll hit the Queen’s Bedchamber.

Morgott is literally just up the stairs from the Queen's Bedchamber Site of Grace. You'll see a long staircase leading to a fog gate. That is the Elden Throne.

Why you might be stuck

Sometimes players get to the Capital and find the seal hasn't broken. If you have your two runes and it’s still locked, go talk to the Finger Reader Crone at the Roundtable. If you’re already in the city but can’t find the dragon wing, look for the area with the Leyndell Knights and the giant carriage. The wing is hard to miss once you stop looking at the ground.

Who is Morgott, anyway?

There is a lot of lore packed into this guy. Basically, he’s an Omen, which in the world of Elden Ring means he was born "cursed" with horns and tail. Usually, Omen babies have their horns cut off (which usually kills them) or they are thrown into the sewers. Morgott and his brother Mohg were royalty, so they were shackled in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds instead.

Despite being treated like garbage by his own family, Morgott stayed loyal. When everyone else left during the Shattering to fight over shards of the Elden Ring, he stayed behind to protect the Erdtree. He’s the "Grace-Given" king, but he calls himself the "Last of All Kings" because he thinks everyone else is a traitor.

Interestingly, he created the "Margit" identity specifically so he could go out and hunt Tarnished without people realizing their king was an Omen. He’s a tragic figure, really. He loves a system that fundamentally hates him.

Preparation for the Fight

Since you now know where is Morgott, you should probably know how to not die immediately.

  • Margit’s Shackle: If you bought this from Patches earlier in the game, it works here too. It pins him to the ground, but only during his first phase.
  • Melina Summons: You can actually summon Melina for this fight. Her sign is right by the fog door. She’s surprisingly good and uses Erdtree incantations to heal you.
  • The Second Phase: When he hits 50% health, he’ll start coughing up bile. Run away. He’s about to trigger a massive explosion. The floor also turns into a hazard of geysers, so keep your eyes on your feet.

He is weak to Slash damage and Hemorrhage (Bleed). If you have a katana or any fast-bleeding weapon, you’re going to have a much easier time. He’s very resistant to Holy damage, which makes sense given his whole deal.

After the Battle

Once you beat him, the path to the Mountaintops of the Giants opens up. Don't forget to talk to his "husk" on the ground after the fight for some extra dialogue. He doesn't vanish immediately like other bosses. He lingers, dying slowly, telling you that the Erdtree won't let you in.

To progress from here, you need to head to the Grand Lift of Rold. Melina will give you the medallion after the fight. Just follow the main road out of the city toward the east.
