You're standing in the middle of the Astronomy Wing, staring at a stone wall, wondering why your Revelio spell is pinging like crazy but nothing is appearing. It’s annoying. We’ve all been there. Hogwarts Legacy is massive, and while the Astronomy Wing isn't the biggest section of the castle, those Astronomy Wing field guide pages are surprisingly easy to miss because of how the verticality of the wing works.
If you are trying to hit that 100% completion mark, the Astronomy Wing is usually where people get stuck at 22/23 or 21/23. Why? Because the game considers the "Astronomy Wing" to include everything from the actual high towers down to the Transfiguration Courtyard and even parts of the dungeons. It’s a lot of ground to cover.
Where Most Players Get Stuck
Most people assume the pages are all near the telescopes. They aren't.
One of the most frequently missed Astronomy Wing field guide pages is the "Partial Transfiguration" page. You’ll find this one in the Transfiguration Classroom, which technically counts as part of this wing. If you haven’t cast Revelio right in front of the glass display case with the half-transformed bird-cup thing, you’re missing a page. It’s tucked away in a corner of the room that you rarely have a reason to visit after the initial class quest with Professor Weasley.
Then there is the Wyvern Fountain. It sits right in the middle of the Transfiguration Courtyard. Most players run past it fifty times a day while trying to get to the Library or the Great Hall, but if you don't stand directly in front of the stone dragon and ping it, that page stays invisible. It’s a classic "hidden in plain sight" situation. Honestly, the scale of the courtyard makes it easy to overlook the smaller details.
The Verticality Problem
Let's talk about the actual Astronomy Tower. It’s a long climb. You've got the Astronomy Telescope page at the very top, which is obvious, but did you get the one for the "Cellar Tapestry" or the "Pungent Passage"?
The Pungent Passage is a nightmare for completionists. It’s that hallway filled with green mist where everyone is coughing. There’s a page there for the "Curious Corn" (it's actually "Pungent Passage" in the guide, but refers to the smell). You have to be standing in a very specific spot near the middle of the hallway for the prompt to trigger. If you're running through to avoid the sound of students retching, you'll miss it.
- The Astronomy Telescope: At the very top. Hard to miss.
- The Central Hall Fountain: Just down the stairs from the Charms classroom.
- The Hebridean Black Scale: Found in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Look for the massive rug/scale display.
- Painting of Illyrius: Down the stairs from the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts (DADA) tower is technically part of the Astronomy Wing. This is where things get confusing for the map markers. There is a page specifically for the "Cabinet of Curiosities" located near the DADA classroom. If you're just looking at the Astronomy Tower itself, you're looking in the wrong place.

Flying Pages and Moth Frames
Not every page comes from Revelio. You’ve got the flying pages and the Lumos moth frames too.
The flying pages in the Astronomy Wing are a test of patience. There is one circling the top of the Astronomy Tower that usually requires you to stand on the outer balcony to catch it with Accio. If you’re inside the room with the big telescope, you might hear it flapping, but you won't see it. You have to go outside.
Then there are the Moth Frames. These don't show up on your "Field Guide Pages" count in the same way as the named lore pages, but they do count toward the total for the wing. There’s one right near the Transfiguration Courtyard floo flame. You cast Lumos, see the picture of the location, and then realize the moth is actually tucked away in a completely different hallway nearby. It’s a lot of back-and-forth.
The Secret Dungeon Pages
Did you know the dungeons are part of the Astronomy Wing? Well, at least the North side is.
If you head down toward the Slytherin dungeon area (even if you aren't a Slytherin), you'll find the "Slytherin Sinks" page. It’s a wink at the Chamber of Secrets. Revelio in front of the sinks. Boom. Page.
There's also the "Painting of Selwyn the Pious" which is tucked away in the back hallways leading toward the Transfiguration area. Most people miss this because the lighting in the dungeons is so moody that you stop noticing the interactable objects. You're too busy looking for chests or worrying about the creepy atmosphere.
How to Actually Find the Last Few
If you are stuck at 95% and want to finish this today, do these three things:
First, check the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower again. Walk every floor. There are three levels, and each one has at least one Revelio page. Check the "Augurey Skeleton" and the "Boggart Closet."
Second, look up. Not for stars, but for the flying pages. There is one that flies high above the Transfiguration Courtyard. You can't reach it from the ground. You actually have to go up to the balcony overlooking the courtyard (near the DADA classroom entrance) to get a good angle for Accio.
Third, check the "Professor Sharp’s Office" area. While Sharp is a Potions master, the geography of the game sometimes clips his area into the Astronomy Wing's logic depending on which door you entered through.
The Logistics of the Field Guide
The Field Guide isn't just a collectible tracker. It’s the primary way you gain XP in Hogwarts Legacy. Each of these Astronomy Wing field guide pages gives you 80 XP. If you're trying to hit Level 40, you cannot skip these.
The lore on these pages is actually pretty decent too. The page for the "Grimmish" tapestry or the "Window of the Serpent" adds a layer of history that makes the castle feel less like a movie set and more like a place where people actually lived for a thousand years. It’s easy to ignore the text when it pops up, but some of the jokes the developers hid in the descriptions are actually funny.
Why Some Pages Don't Show Up
Sometimes, the game glitches. It’s rare, but it happens. If you know exactly where a page should be (like the "Tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy") and Revelio isn't working, try fast traveling to Hogsmeade and coming back. This resets the cell loading.
Also, make sure you aren't in the middle of a quest. Some pages are disabled during specific story beats because the room lighting or NPC placement changes. If Professor Fig is standing in a hallway waiting for you, the page that usually spawns there might be temporarily "gone" until you finish that dialogue.
Actionable Checklist for Completion
To wrap this up and get your map to 100%, follow this specific path:
- Start at the Astronomy Tower Floo Flame: Go all the way up. Get the Telescope page and the flying page outside.
- Go to the Transfiguration Courtyard: Get the Wyvern Fountain and the flying page above the arches.
- Enter the North Hall: This is the area near the History of Magic classroom. There are several pages here, including the "Sphinx Statue."
- Sweep the DADA Tower: Start at the bottom (near the dungeons) and work your way up to the top office. Look for the "Hebridean Black Scale" and "Painting of Illyrius."
- Check the Alchemy Classroom: It's down in the basement/dungeon area near the DADA tower. There’s a page for the "Alchemy Tools" that almost everyone forgets.
By the time you've finished this loop, you should have every single page. If the counter is still off by one, check the "Moth Frames" again. There is one moth hidden behind a pillar near the Sphinx that is notoriously hard to see unless your brightness is turned up.
Once you have all the Astronomy Wing field guide pages, you'll have unlocked a significant portion of the "Hogwarts" section of your challenges, moving you closer to those sweet legendary gear appearances.
