Ever wander into the Depths of Hyrule, minding your own business, only to have the ground start shaking beneath your feet? You probably ran right into a Frox. These giant, one-eyed frog-beasts are basically the Talus of the underground, but way more aggressive and, frankly, terrifying if you aren't ready. There are exactly 40 Frox scattered across the Depths. You won't find a single one on the surface. They’re strictly subterranean dwellers. While it feels like they’re everywhere, they actually stick to specific regions based on their difficulty tier.
The Standard Frox: Beginner Territory
Standard Frox are the "entry-level" versions. They’re mostly green, have about 700 HP, and aren't too bright. You’ll find about 12 of these guys. Most of them are clustered in the lower-central part of the Depths. Think of the area between the Great Abandoned Central Mine and the Abandoned Gerudo Mine. If you’re just starting your Depths exploration, these are the ones you’ll see first. One even hangs out right near the Nuzimak Lightroot south of the Grove of Time.
Obsidian Frox: The Mid-Tier Menace
The Obsidian Frox is where things get spicy. They have more health (1100 HP) and way tougher ore deposits on their backs. There are 15 of these in total. They don't have one single "home," but you’ll find them in clusters. A big group of them guards the area around the Abandoned Hebra Mine and stretches up toward the Gleeok Den. There’s also a lone one just south of the Faloraa Canyon Mine that loves to surprise people jumping down from the Great Plateau.
Blue-White Frox: The Real Bosses
These are the kings of the Depths. With 2100 HP and a silver-blue skin that practically glows in the dark, they are unmistakable. There are 13 of them. They love the coldest, most remote parts of the map. Look for them under the Hebra Mountains and the Tabantha Frontier. If you see a massive, flat, circular area on your map that looks suspiciously empty, there's probably a Blue-White Frox waiting for you there. Combat: How to Actually Win
Finding them on a totk frox location map is only half the battle. If you just run up and start swinging, you’re going to get eaten. Literally. Their most famous move is the "Big Inhale." They open that cavernous mouth and try to suck you in like a piece of stray lint.
The Pro Move: Feed Them a Bomb
When they start inhaling, don't run away. Throw a Bomb Flower into their mouth. They’ll swallow it, it’ll go off in their stomach, and they’ll be stunned for a good ten seconds. This is your window.
The Eye Shot

If you’re looking for specific spots to mark on your Purah Pad, here are a few high-value locations:
- Blue-White Frox (Hebra): -4398, 2658, -0666. Near the Nupisoyuat Lightroot.
- Obsidian Frox (Central): -1340, 0974, -0540. North of the Kawakanis Lightroot.
- Standard Frox (Gerudo): -2255, -1975, -0583. Southwest of the Jadukakar Lightroot.
- The "Hidden" Blue-White: There’s one isolated in a tiny cavern northwest of Lookout Landing. You can’t even see it from the main Depths area. It’s a great one to farm because it’s so close to a fast-travel point once you find it.
The Most Forgotten Loot
Don't just kill the Frox and leave. Look around the "arena" where you fought it. Every Frox guards a small cluster of Zonaite deposits.
