The GTA Online Acid Lab is Honestly the Best Solo Business Right Now

You're probably tired of the grind. We've all been there, sitting in a Cayo Perico prep mission for the hundredth time, wondering if there’s a faster way to make a million bucks without losing our minds. Most players gravitate toward the big flashy heists, but if you aren't running the GTA Online Acid Lab, you are basically leaving easy money on the table. It’s a mobile powerhouse. It’s tucked inside a massive 6-wheeled brick of a truck called the MTL Brickade 6x6, and frankly, it’s the most consistent passive income stream Rockstar has added in years.

I remember when the Los Santos Drug Wars update first dropped. People were skeptical. Why would we want another drug business when we already have MC Businesses and Nightclubs? Well, the answer is simple: efficiency. The Acid Lab doesn't play by the same annoying rules as the Biker businesses. You don’t have to deal with those miserable Post OP van delivery missions that take twenty minutes to go three miles.

Getting Your Hands on the MTL Brickade 6x6

To even start with the GTA Online Acid Lab, you have to finish the "First Dose" story missions. Talk to Ron Jakowski at the Ace Liquor store in Sandy Shores. You’ll meet Dax and the Fooliganz. Complete all six missions. It’s not hard, but it takes about an hour or two depending on how fast you drive. Once you finish "First Dose 6 - Off the Rails," you get the Brickade 6x6 for free.

Free is good. But it’s not actually a lab yet.

You have to go to the Freakshop—that's your new warehouse hub—and talk to Mutt. He’s the guy who actually runs the chemistry. You’ll need to cough up $750,000 to install the lab equipment. If you’re a GTA+ member, this is sometimes waived, but for most of us, it’s a flat fee. It sounds steep if you're broke, but the ROI (return on investment) is insane. You'll make that back in two or three full sales. Easily.

The Equipment Upgrade: Don't Skip This

Listen. This is the part where most people mess up. They buy the lab, they start making product, and they complain that the profit sucks. You absolutely must unlock the Equipment Upgrade.

Here is the catch: Rockstar hides this behind a wall. You have to complete 10 "Fooliganz Jobs." You trigger these by calling Dax on your in-game phone and selecting "Request Work." There is a 48-minute cooldown between these missions. It’s a bit of a slog. You’ll be doing things like destroying rival grow ops or stealing crop dusters to spray chemicals. Do ten of them. Just do it. Once you finish the tenth one, you can buy the Equipment Upgrade for $250,000 at the Freakshop.

Why does this matter? Because without it, your acid sells for pennies. With the upgrade, a full batch sells for over $335,000 in a private lobby. If you sell in a populated public lobby, that "High Demand" bonus can push your payout well over $500,000 for a single delivery vehicle.

Production and the "Boost" Mechanic

The GTA Online Acid Lab is a passive business. You buy supplies, or steal them if you’re feeling stingy, and Mutt turns them into product over time. Buying supplies costs $60,000 for a full bar. Honestly? Just buy them. Stealing supplies is a waste of time that you could spend doing a Payphone Hit or a Headhunter mission to make that $60k back faster.

There is a unique feature here: the Production Boost.

Once every real-world day (24 hours), you can walk up to the chemistry table inside the truck and manually boost production. This makes the lab work twice as fast for a set period. It’s a small interaction, but it shaves significant time off your wait. If you’re playing a long session, always hit that boost the moment you log in.

  • Production Time (No Upgrade): Around 6 hours for full stock.
  • Production Time (With Upgrade): Roughly 4 hours.
  • With Daily Boost: Even faster.

The value of the product also fluctuates slightly based on the name you give it. You can change the name of your product in the interaction menu. It doesn’t change the gameplay, but it’s a nice touch for the "immersion" folks.

Delivery: Why This Business Wins

The absolute best thing about the GTA Online Acid Lab is the delivery vehicle. It’s the Manchez Scout C. It’s a dirt bike.

Think about every other business in the game. The Bunker gives you those slow-as-dirt Marshalls or Dune FAVs. The MC businesses give you the dreaded trash trucks. The Acid Lab? You get a nimble, fast bike that can wheelie over traffic and jump off mountains.

There are three main mission types for selling:

  1. The Paperboy: You drive to various locations and toss acid into laundry baskets or bins. It’s fast.
  2. The Hidden Stashes: You hide the product in crates around a specific area while avoiding a small police presence.
  3. The Undercover Cop Trap: This is the one you need to watch out for. You go to a parking garage, and it looks like a normal drop, but it’s an ambush. Pro tip: if you see a bunch of unmarked cars or guys in suits nearby, don't walk into the circle. Shoot one of the "civilians" or the backup cars first to trigger the chase, lose the 2-star wanted level, and then the real drop locations will appear on the map.

Because it’s always just one bike, you can do this solo in any lobby. Even if you have a full stock, you will never get multiple delivery vehicles. This makes it the gold standard for solo players who don't have a crew to help them fly three helicopters across the map.

Defensive Capabilities of the Brickade 6x6

You aren't just driving a lab; you’re driving a tank. The Brickade 6x6 is incredibly durable. When fully upgraded with armor plating, it can survive about 48 homing missiles. That is more than a Khanjali tank or an Insurgent Pick-up.

If a Greifer in an Oppressor Mk II starts buzzing around you while you’re moving your lab, they’ll run out of missiles before they can blow you up. Plus, you can install a Proximity Mine dropper. I prefer the Kinetic mines because they launch cars into the air without necessarily killing the driver, which is hilarious, but EMP mines are also great for disabling attackers.

The "Ram Plow" on the front is also essential. It clears traffic like it isn't even there. If you're driving against the flow of traffic on the Great Ocean Highway, you can just plow through SUVs and trucks without losing any speed. It makes the "First Dose" and "Last Dose" missions significantly easier if you use the Brickade as your primary transport.

The Math: Is it Actually Profitable?

Let’s look at the numbers because math doesn't lie.

If you buy supplies for $60,000, you will need to do that about 1.6 times to fill the lab (so $96,000 total investment). With the equipment upgrade, your sale price is $335,200 in a solo lobby.

$$335,200 - 96,000 = 239,200$$

That’s nearly $240,000 in pure profit for doing almost nothing. Now, if you do that in a full 30-player public lobby, you get a 2% bonus per player. In a full lobby, that's a 50% bonus (capped at 50% or 25 players depending on the current Rockstar tuning).

Suddenly, that $335,000 sale becomes $502,800.

Subtract your $96,000 supply cost, and you just cleared over $400,000 profit for a delivery that takes roughly 5 to 8 minutes. No other solo-friendly business in GTA Online matches that hourly rate when you factor in how little effort it requires.

Misconceptions About the Freakshop

A lot of players think they have to go back to the Freakshop to manage the lab. You don't. You can request the Acid Lab via the Services section of the Interaction Menu anywhere on the map. It spawns nearby just like a Terrorbyte or Kosatka.

However, you can’t buy supplies from the interaction menu. You have to either go inside the truck and talk to Mutt, or call him on your phone. Calling Mutt is the way to go. You can be at the top of Mount Chiliad, call Mutt, buy supplies, and keep going about your day.

Another weird thing: people think the Acid Lab is part of the MC Clubhouse. It isn't. It’s its own entity. You don't need to be a President or a CEO to run it, although you do need to be "registered as a boss" (SecuroServ or MC) to actually access the computer and start a sell mission.

Maximizing Your Efficiency

If you want to be a pro at this, you need to integrate the Acid Lab into a "loop."

Start your session at the Freakshop. Boost your production. Call Dax and do a Fooliganz job. While the cooldown for Dax is running, go do a Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid or a few Dr. Dre contract missions. Every couple of hours, check your phone. If Mutt hasn't texted you that supplies are out, call him anyway.

If you’re worried about being raided, don't be. The Acid Lab can be raided by the cops, but it’s rare compared to the MC businesses. If it happens, you just have to drive to a location, take out some cops, and drive the truck back. It's much less punishing than losing all your product in a Warehouse raid.

Making the Move

The GTA Online Acid Lab isn't just a business; it’s a survival tool for the modern GTA player. It gives you a heavily armored vehicle, a top-tier motorcycle, and a consistent way to fund your car-buying addiction.

If you haven't started the "First Dose" missions yet, go find Ron at the yellow "R" on your map. Get through those six missions. Don't get discouraged by the trippy visuals in the third mission—it’s just part of the vibe.

Once you get that Brickade, focus entirely on those 10 Dax missions. It’s the difference between a mediocre side-hustle and a primary income source.

Next Steps for Your Empire:

  1. Finish "First Dose" 1-6 to get the Brickade 6x6 for free.
  2. Pay the $750k to Mutt inside the Freakshop to turn it into a working lab.
  3. Call Dax immediately to start your first of 10 Fooliganz Jobs. Set a timer on your real phone for 48 minutes so you know exactly when you can start the next one.
  4. Purchase the Equipment Upgrade at the Freakshop the second you hit that 10-mission milestone.
  5. Always sell in a public lobby if you can handle the heat—the high-demand bonus is too large to ignore, and the Manchez Scout C is fast enough to dodge most griefers.
  6. Use the "Last Dose" missions (which unlock after First Dose) to get the Ocelot Virtue for free, which is an amazing electric supercar that fits the same "Fooliganz" theme and provides even more value for your time.

Stop grinding the same three heists until you're bored to tears. Get the lab running in the background and let the passive income do the heavy lifting for you.
