Stellar Blade Fishing Spots: How to Actually Catch the Rare Stuff

Stellar Blade Fishing Spots: How to Actually Catch the Rare Stuff

Let's be real: most people start fishing in Stellar Blade because they want that Ocean Maid outfit. It’s easily one of the best suits in the game, but the grind to get all 25 fish can feel like a total chore if you’re just casting your line into random puddles. Honestly, you don't need to spend hours wandering around.

Fishing doesn't even unlock until you hit the Great Desert. You’ll meet Clyde at the Oasis—a guy who clearly values peace and quiet way more than the fate of humanity. Once he hands you that rod, the game basically leaves you to figure out the rest.

If you're trying to fill out that fish data bank fast, you need to know that not all water is created equal. Some spots are gold mines. Others are just full of the same three mackerel you've already caught fifty times.

Stellar Blade Fishing Spots: Where the Big Ones Hide

You’ve got a handful of main locations to worry about. If you're efficient, you can wrap up the whole collection in a couple of sessions.

The Oasis (Great Desert)

This is your home base. It’s also where you’ll spend about 70% of your time. Why? Because the Oasis is the only spot where the Jumbo and Gigantic fish consistently show up.

If you’re looking for the Whale Shark or the Dunkleosteus, this is the place. You won't catch them with a shrimp, though. You’ll need the Fantastic Bait for the Jumbos and Special Bait for the Gigantic tier.

The Inundated Cave (Wasteland)

Kinda easy to miss if you aren't exploring the edges of the map. It’s located in the northern part of the Wasteland, tucked away near the Solar Tower.

This cave is the go-to for Large fish. If you’re missing the Mahi-Mahi or the Ocean Sunfish, head here with plenty of Fish Slices. The vibe is a bit spooky, but the catch rate for rare large species is significantly higher than at the Oasis.

Xion's Secret Path

There’s a small, unassuming pond on the path between Xion and the Wasteland. Most players sprint right past it. Don't.

This is the "Medium Fish" capital of the world. Use Wriggling Insects here. You’ll pull out Channel Catfish, Salmon, and Red Seabream like it’s nothing. It’s much faster than trying to filter through the small fish pool at the Oasis.

Eidos 7 Clock Tower

Remember that flooded plaza where you fought the early bosses? Once the water level changes or you return later, that pond near the clock tower becomes a prime spot for Halibut.

What Most People Get Wrong About Bait

I’ve seen a lot of players waste Special Bait trying to catch small fish. Stop doing that. The bait system in Stellar Blade is actually pretty rigid, and using the "wrong" bait usually just results in a "Fish got away" message or a very frustrated EVE.

  • Small Shrimp: Use these for the 1-star tiny stuff like Goldfish and Mudskippers.
  • Wriggling Insects: These are for your Medium fish.
  • Fish Slices: This is your bread and butter for Large fish.
  • Special Bait: Only use this for the Gigantic category (Great White Shark, etc.).
  • Fantastic Bait: This is a quest-reward item that doesn't get consumed. It’s specifically for the two Jumbo fish.

One thing that’s super important: buy the Fishing Data. Clyde sells three levels of it. If you’re struggling with the button-mashing or the fish keep snapping the line, it’s probably because you haven't bought the upgrades. They make the mini-game significantly easier by slowing down the timer and increasing your reel strength.

The Quest for the Fantastic Bait

You can't just buy the best bait. You have to earn it. This involves a string of missions from the Xion bulletin board—basically a "catch this specific fish" fetch quest line.

Eventually, you’ll get a quest called "Where is the Fantastic Bait?" which sends you to the Plant area in the southeast of the Wasteland. You have to dive underwater, find a chest, and enter the code 0508.

Once you have that, head back to the Oasis. That's where you'll finally land the Whale Shark.

How to Get the Ocean Maid Suit

To get the suit, you need all 25 species logged in your data bank.

  1. Catch all Small, Medium, Large, and Gigantic fish using the spots mentioned above.
  2. Get the Fantastic Bait from the Wasteland chest.
  3. Catch the two Jumbo fish (Whale Shark and Dunkleosteus) at the Oasis.
  4. Talk to Clyde. He’ll finally stop being grumpy and hand over the outfit.

Honestly, the hardest part isn't the skill—it's the patience. If you keep catching the same fish, try moving your EVE to a different side of the pond. It sounds like a myth, but many players (myself included) swear that certain "sweet spots" in the Oasis pool favor different species.

Next Steps for Your Fishing Journey:

  • Check your Data Bank: See exactly which fish you’re missing so you don't waste the wrong bait.
  • Visit the Xion Bulletin Board: Complete "Wife's Water Tank" and "Fish Research" to progress toward the Fantastic Bait.
  • Stock up on Fish Slices: You’ll need more of these than you think for the Inundated Cave.
  • Buy the Fishing Data: Go to Clyde right now and buy every "Fishing Data" item he has in stock to save your thumbs from the mini-game stress.
