You’re probably here because you want that Ocean Maid outfit. I get it. It’s easily one of the best Nano Suits in the game, but Shift Up didn't exactly make it easy to track down every single aquatic creature lurking in the post-apocalyptic puddles of Stellar Blade. Fishing in this game starts as a relaxing distraction and quickly turns into a high-stakes battle of reflexes against a Whale Shark that refuses to cooperate.
Honestly, the fishing system is pretty deep once you get past the initial tutorial with Clyde. If you haven't met him yet, you'll find him chilling at the Oasis in the Great Desert. He’s the guy who gives you the rod. Don't skip his dialogue; he's basically your gateway to the entire fishing mini-game.
Stellar Blade All Fish Locations and How to Find Them
Most players make the mistake of thinking you can just sit at the Oasis and catch everything. You can't. While the Oasis is the "main" hub, the 25 unique fish types are scattered across a few specific locations. If you’re aimlessly casting your line into every pool of water you see, you're wasting your time.
The game divides fish by size: Small, Medium, Large, Gigantic, and the elusive Jumbo. Each size generally corresponds to a specific type of bait and a specific location. If you’re looking to fill that data bank, you need to be strategic.
The Small and Tiny Fellas
You'll find almost all the small fish at the Great Desert Oasis. This is the easiest part of the journey.
Use Small Shrimp bait here.

✨ Don't miss: Wordle Today October 19: Why This One Is Tripping Everyone Up
- Goldfish
- Mudskipper
- Betta
- Butterflyfish
- Porcupinefish
- Lobster
I've noticed some people try to catch these in the Wasteland, but really, just stick to the Oasis for the small fry. It's faster.
The Medium Sized Crowd
For medium fish, head to the Path to the Wasteland (the cave/tunnel area just outside Xion). There’s a small pond there that is absolutely teeming with them.
Switch your bait to Wriggling Insects.
This is where you’ll snag:
- Flying Fish
- Triggerfish
- Sea Bass
- Mackerel
- Red Seabream
- Koi
- Channel Catfish
- Salmon
If you're missing the Footballfish, this is also your best bet. Some guides say they spawn elsewhere, but I’ve had the best luck right here.
Where to Find the Big Ones
Now things get tricky. Large, Gigantic, and Jumbo fish require specific "Fishing Data" that you have to buy from Clyde. If you don't buy the Advanced or Fantastic Fishing Data, your chances of hooking a Whale Shark are basically zero.
Large Fish Locations
The Inundated Cave (northern Wasteland) and the Plant (southeastern Wasteland) are your go-to spots.
Use Fish Slice bait.
In these murky waters, you’ll find:
- Mahi-Mahi
- Pacific Bluefin Tuna (The cave is best for this one)
- Sailfish
- Halibut
- Ocean Sunfish
A quick tip: The Clock Tower Pond in Eidos 7 is also a decent backup for Halibut and Sunfish if the Wasteland isn't being kind to you.
The Gigantic and Jumbo Tier
These are the bosses of the fishing world. You aren't catching these with a worm on a hook. You need Special Bait for Gigantic fish and the Fantastic Bait for Jumbo fish.
The Great Desert Oasis is actually the home for these monsters.
- Gigantic Fish: Arowana, Pirarucu, and the Great White Shark. Use Special Bait.
- Jumbo Fish: Whale Shark and Dunkleosteus. Use Fantastic Bait.
Getting the Fantastic Bait is a whole thing. You have to complete the "Where is the Fantastic Bait?" quest, which involves talking to Clyde, visiting Roxanne in Xion, and then diving into a hidden chest in the southeastern Wasteland (use the code 000BBB). Once you have it, it's infinite, so you don't have to keep buying more.
The Secret Eidos 9 Spot
If you managed to unlock Eidos 9 by maxing out Lily’s affinity, there is a fishing spot at Lily's Atelier.
Is it necessary? Technically, no.
You can catch every fish in the main areas. However, Eidos 9 has a high spawn rate for some of the rarer fish if the RNG is treating you poorly elsewhere. It’s a great "one-stop shop" for filling in those last few blanks in your codex before the point of no return.
Pro-Tips for Frustrated Fishers
If the mini-game is making you want to throw your controller, go into the Accessibility Settings. There’s a toggle to simplify the fishing controls. It turns the struggle into a much easier QTE. No shame in it—some of those fish have absurd health bars.
Also, pay attention to the exclamation marks.
- ! - Small/Common
- !! - Medium/Rare
- !!! - Large/Gigantic/Jumbo
If you’re hunting for a Great White and you only see one exclamation mark, just let the fish go. It saves your bait and your time.
Final Checklist for the Ocean Maid Suit
Once you’ve caught all 25 types, head back to Clyde. He’ll give you the Ocean Maid outfit.
If you’re in New Game Plus, there’s actually a second version called the Tidal Maid. To get that, wear the Ocean Maid suit and fish in the Oasis using Strange Bait. You’ll pull up a box containing the variant.

Next time you're at a camp, check your Fish Database. See which icons are still grayed out. If you're missing one from the Large category, get some Fish Slices and head to the Inundated Cave. If it's a Jumbo, grab that Fantastic Bait and head back to the Oasis.
Start by clearing out the Small and Medium fish first to build up your Fishing Points—you'll need them to buy the Data items from Clyde that make catching the big ones actually possible.
