Always carry a matching Persona. If you are going to see Kenji (Magician), make sure you have a Nekomata or Jack-o'-Lantern in your pocket. It’s a flat 1.5x multiplier to almost every point you earn. Without it, you’ll find yourself "spending time" with people without ranking up. That is a death sentence for a Max Social Link run.

Which Bonds Actually Matter for Combat?

In the original game, Social Links were mostly about the XP boost during fusion. In Reload, it's deeper.

Ranking up your teammates (Yukari, Junpei, Akihiko, etc.) unlocks Theurgy skills and combat characteristics. For instance, Fuuka (Priestess) is your navigator. Maxing her out makes her buffs in Tartarus significantly more potent.

  1. Bebe (Temperance): You have to start his link before June 8th. If you don't join the Fashion Club by then, he basically disappears from the game.
  2. The Sun (Akinari): You can only see him on Sundays. There are only so many Sundays in a year. If you start him too late (like in November), you literally won't have enough weeks left to finish his story.
  3. The Rescue Missions: In September and October, certain Social Link characters (like Bunkichi or Maiko) will actually wander into Tartarus. If you don't go in and save them before the next full moon, their Social Link breaks permanently. You can't talk to a ghost.

Sometimes, even with a matching Persona and perfect answers, a character won't be ready to rank up. It happens.

In the old days, you’d waste an afternoon "sitting with them." Don’t do that in Reload.

  • Do Tartarus in one night. It’s exhausting, but spending four nights in the tower means four nights you aren't at the arcade boosting your stats.
  • Watch the "Linked Episodes" immediately. They don't wait for you. If a teammate texts you, say yes.
