New Marvel Rivals Skins: The Winners and Losers of Season 6

New Marvel Rivals Skins: The Winners and Losers of Season 6

Honestly, if you’re a Vanguard main, the new Season 6 update for Marvel Rivals might feel like a personal attack. NetEase just dropped the "Museum Ticket" Battle Pass on January 16, 2026, and the skin distribution is... well, it’s a choice. While the Duelists are basically feasting on a buffet of new looks, the tanks are left picking up the scraps.

It’s weird. Usually, every role gets at least two skins per pass. Not this time. This season is heavily leaning into the "Night at the Museum" theme, centered around the Collector’s chaotic gallery and the long-awaited arrival of Deadpool. But while the theme is cool, the math isn't mathing for everyone.

The Museum Ticket Breakdown: Who's Getting Dressed Up?

The Season 6 Battle Pass is a bit of a lopsided affair. We're looking at ten new costumes in total, but seven of those belong to Duelists. Seven! If you play characters like Blade or Wolverine, you're having a great week. If you’re a Magneto or Peni Parker main? Better luck in Season 7, I guess.

The Duelist Dominance

Deadpool is the star of the show, obviously. Since he’s a "triple-role" hybrid now—which is still a nightmare to balance, let’s be real—his cosmetics are everywhere. You’ve got the Captain Pool bundle in the shop (yes, he’s wearing a hat) and a bunch of emoji-themed gear.

But the Battle Pass highlights for Duelists are actually pretty diverse:

  • Wolverine gets a "Winter Soldier" variant. It’s a gritty, tactical look that fits Logan surprisingly well.
  • Blade has a "Vampire Slayer" skin. It’s a classic, clean aesthetic that stays true to his roots.
  • Black Panther’s "King of Wakanda" look is finally here. It’s got that royal purple glow that honestly makes his default skin look a bit plain.

The Lonely Vanguard and Ghostly Strategists

Venom is the only Vanguard holding the line in this Battle Pass with the Space Corsair skin. It’s a bit of a "love it or hate it" design—very gooey, very retro-sci-fi. You unlock it instantly if you buy the 990 Lattice "Luxury" pass, which is a nice perk, but it’s literally the only tank skin in the track.

On the Strategist side, things are a bit better. Mantis gets a "Galactic Gladiator" outfit that makes her look significantly more intimidating than a bug-lady usually does. Storm also gets a "Queen of Wakanda" skin to match T'Challa, and it's a free reward, which is a rare win for the F2P crowd.

Shop Drops and Twitch Loot

If you’re willing to drop some actual money or spend your time watching streamers, there are a few "must-haves" that aren't in the pass.

  1. Invisible Woman - Prism Parade: This one is a "Chroma" costume, and NetEase claims it’s "200% more visible." For a character whose whole thing is being invisible, it’s a hilarious bit of irony. It’s super shiny and has custom VFX for her ultimate.
  2. Venom & Spider-Man - Cosmic Invasion: These are pixelated, retro-style skins inspired by the Marvel Cosmic Invasion beat-'em-up. The Venom one even makes old-school "chomp" sounds. It’s purely for the nostalgia-obsessed.
  3. The Freebies: Don't sleep on the "Whac-A-Jeff" event. If you play the mini-game, you get an 8-Bit Bash Jeff the Land Shark skin for free. Also, watch four hours of Rivals on Twitch before February 13 to grab the Will of Galacta skin for Invisible Woman.

What Most People Are Missing About Season 6

There’s a bit of a rumor going around that Vanguards are being ignored because the devs are lazy. That’s probably not true. If you look at the roadmap, there are a ton of "College Perk" skins rotating in for tanks.

We’re seeing things like Weapon X Wolverine and Majestic Raiment Thor popping up in that specific rotation. Plus, the Fantastic Four are getting their "First Steps" movie-tie-in suits for the whole team. So, while the Battle Pass is light on Vanguards, the shop and specialized rotations are picking up the slack.

Is the Luxury Pass Worth It?

At 990 Lattice (about ten bucks), the "Museum Ticket" pass is standard pricing. If you main Venom, Wolverine, or Black Panther, it’s a no-brainer. The MVP animations this season, especially for Moon Knight’s "King of Clubs" skin, are some of the flashiest we’ve seen since the game launched.

However, if you’re strictly a free-to-play person, you’re basically just here for the Storm and Blade skins. Everything else—the cool nameplates, the animated avatars, the "Space Corsair" stuff—is locked behind the paywall.

How to Get the Most Out of the New Update

To actually unlock all this stuff without losing your mind to the grind, focus on the "Night at the Museum" serial missions first. They give a massive boost to your Chrono Tokens. Also, check your Hero Proficiency. The Season 6 update converted all that stockpiled XP into new levels instantly. You might log in and find you've already unlocked a bunch of rewards without even playing a match yet.

Make sure to claim your Reborn From Ragnarok Thor skin from the event tab before February 7th, or it’s gone. It’s a mission-based reward, so you can’t just buy it later if you miss the window.

Log in before January 23rd if you want the Snow-SP//dr or Starcracker bundles, as those are being rotated out of the shop to make room for more Deadpool junk. The meta is changing fast with Deadpool's hybrid kit, but at least we'll look good while we're getting shot.

Check your "Gone Nutty For Gifts" event progress too; they extended it until January 29th, so you still have a few days to mop up those remaining rewards before the Museum theme completely takes over the UI.

Summary Checklist for Season 6 Skins

  • Buy the Luxury Pass (990 Lattice) for the Venom Space Corsair and Wolverine Winter Soldier looks.
  • Play the Whac-A-Jeff Event for the free 8-Bit Jeff skin.
  • Complete Midnight Features Missions before Feb 7 for the Ragnarok Thor skin.
  • Watch 4 Hours of Twitch for the Hela and Invisible Woman "Will of Galacta" drops.
  • Check the College Perk Rotation if you need new looks for Thor, Scarlet Witch, or the Fantastic Four.

The skin game in Marvel Rivals is getting expensive and crowded, but the quality of the 2026 designs is definitely a step up from the launch sets. Just keep an eye on your Lattice balance—it disappears faster than a cloaked Black Widow.

Next Steps for Players:

  1. Check your Hero Proficiency: You likely have instant rewards waiting for you in the new expanded pages.
  2. Link your Twitch account: The drops for the "Will of Galacta" set started on January 16 and only run for a month.
  3. Prioritize the "Night at the Museum" Serial: These missions are the fastest way to hit Page 11 of the Battle Pass for that Invisible Woman Prism skin.
