People always forget that part. Once you clear the initial hunt, you unlock the ability to find Mizutsune in the wild.
The armor set is the real prize here. The "Bubbly Dance" skill is back, and in Wilds, it feels more fluid than ever. But the difficulty spike comes later. Once you hit HR 41, Tempered Mizutsune enters the fray. It hits like a freight train, and if you aren't careful with your positioning, those bubbles will leave you wide open for a tail slam that can one-shot most mid-tier builds.
Zoh Shia and the High-Rank Grind
A lot of hunters were confused about Zoh Shia. It was initially a bit of a mystery, but Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 officially moved it into the repeatable hunt pool.
You need to hit HR 50 to see the story mission that unlocks it. After that, it has a low spawn rate in the Ruins of Wyveria. It specifically likes to show up during the "Wyvern’s Wakening" environmental state. The weapons you craft from Zoh Shia are essentially the current meta for high-raw damage builds. We’re seeing a lot of Long Sword and Great Sword players swapping out their Arkveld gear for these sets.
Why the Grand Hub Matters
Before this update, the social experience felt a bit fractured. The Grand Hub, unlocked at HR 16 by talking to Tetsuzan in Suja, changed that. It’s huge. It finally brought back that feeling of a "gathering hall" we had in older titles.

- Hit HR 21 immediately. If you've been slacking on your rank, go clear some multi-monster expeditions. You can't even touch the new content without that rank.
- Talk to Kanya. Don't ignore the Scarlet Forest base camp. Mizutsune's gear is essential for water-element builds.
- Upgrade your armor. Take advantage of the increased upgrade cap. Use the materials from the new Tempered hunts to max out your defense before trying the Arch-Tempered event.
- Farm Barrel Bowling. It sounds silly, but the daily vouchers give you easy access to Pendants that used to be a nightmare to grind.
- Check the Festival of Accord dates. Capcom usually times these seasonal events to give out exclusive layered armor. You don't want to miss the Blossomdance set.
The meta is still shifting, and with Title Update 2 promising Lagiacrus in the summer, we’re likely going to see another shift toward thunder-resistance builds soon.
