So, you’re trekking through the snow in Hebra, freezing your boots off, and you stumble upon what looks like an old stable. But there are no horses. Instead, there’s a giant Rito bird named Penn squawking about deadlines and a gossip-hungry editor named Traysi barking orders. Welcome to the Lucky Clover Gazette TotK headquarters.
Honestly, if you haven’t visited this place yet, you’re missing out on arguably the best armor set in the game. It’s not just a flavor location; it’s the nerve center for a massive questline that sends you across every corner of Hyrule.
Where Exactly Is This Place?
The Lucky Clover Gazette isn't some hidden underground bunker. It’s actually the repurposed Rito Stable from the previous game. If you're coming from Central Hyrule, just head northwest toward Rito Village.
You'll find it sitting right before the broken bridge leading into the village. The coordinates are roughly -3250, 1779, 0119.
Quick tip: the bridge is out. You can’t just walk across like you did in Breath of the Wild. You’ll need to glide or find a way to navigate the gap, though most people just approach from the east road. Once you see the tent-like structure covered in newspaper clippings instead of horse gear, you’ve made it.
The Traysi and Penn Dynamic
When you walk in, you’ll meet Traysi. If the name sounds familiar, it should. She was the one writing all those "Rumor Mill" notebooks found in stables during the last game. Now, she’s leveled up. She’s the editor-in-chief, and she’s got a "mutually beneficial" (read: probably sketchy) deal with the former stable owner to use the space.

Then there's Penn. He’s a Rito who looks like a pelican and takes his job very seriously.
Traysi won't tell Penn who you actually are. To him, you’re just a "partner" helping out with the news. She wants you to investigate the "Potential Princess Sightings!" because sightings of Zelda are popping up everywhere, and most of them make no sense.
The Grind for the Froggy Armor
Why should you care about a newspaper? Simple. The Froggy Armor.
If you’ve ever tried to climb a cliff in the rain and felt that soul-crushing slide back to the bottom, this is your solution. The Lucky Clover Gazette questline is the only way to get the "Slip Resistance" buff.
- 2 Quests: You get the Lucky Clover Gazette Paraglider Fabric.
- 4 Quests: You get the Froggy Sleeve.
- 9 Quests: You get the Froggy Leggings.
- 12 Quests (All of them): You get the Froggy Hood.
Basically, you have to visit 12 different stables across Hyrule. At each one, Penn will be standing there (sometimes in weird spots, like on top of the stable roof at Dueling Peaks) waiting for you to help him solve a local mystery.

What Most People Get Wrong About the Quests
A lot of players think they can just talk to Penn at a stable and the quest starts. Not always. You must visit the Lucky Clover Gazette first and talk to Traysi to officially start the "Potential Princess Sightings!" side adventure. If you don't, Penn might show up at stables, but he won't have the specific prompts you need.
Another weird thing? Not every stable has a quest.
- East Akkala Stable: Penn is there, but he’ll basically tell you there’s no news about Zelda. He’s just chilling.
- Lakeside Stable: This one is a bit of a trick. There isn't a direct "Penn quest" here, though a different quest nearby eventually involves him.
The actual missions are varied. Sometimes you’re looking for a golden horse (Snowfield Stable), sometimes you’re investigating a creepy voice at night (Highland Stable), and sometimes you’re just dealing with some goats that went missing (Tabantha Bridge Stable).
Is It Worth the Effort?
In a word: Yes.
The Rupees alone are a decent incentive. Your pay increases as you complete more stories. You start at 50 Rupees, but by the end, Traysi is cutting you checks for 300. It’s one of the most consistent ways to make money early on without farming Gleeok guts or something equally dangerous.

Beyond the rewards, these quests actually flesh out the world. You get to see how the "Upheaval" changed the lives of regular Hylians. It’s not just about saving the world; it’s about figuring out why some guy thinks a pumpkin is the Master Sword.
How to Finish the Whole Thing
Once you’ve hit all 12 stables and solved the mysteries, don't just stop. You have to go back to the Lucky Clover Gazette and talk to Traysi one last time. She’ll give you the final piece of the Froggy set—the hood.
After the quest is done, Penn actually moves. You can find him later at Washa’s Bluff, where Kass used to hang out in the first game. It’s a nice little nod to the Rito bard who’s mysteriously absent this time around.
To get started, make sure you have at least one level of cold resistance. The Hebra region is brutal, and standing inside a drafty old stable-turned-office isn't exactly warm. Grab some Spicy Peppers or the Snowquill set from Rito Village before you go talk to Traysi.
Once you have the full Froggy set, take it to a Great Fairy. If you upgrade the whole set to level two, you get the "Slip Proof" set bonus. That means you can climb in a literal thunderstorm and you will never slip. It’s a total game-changer for exploration.
Go find Penn at Lookout Landing first if you're just starting. He's usually hanging out near the Skyview Tower. Talk to him there, then make the trek to the Gazette. It’s a long walk, but your future, non-slipping self will thank you.
