If you’ve just staggered your way through the absolute nightmare that was 8-30, you probably thought the worst was over. Then you hit Limbus Company 8-32 and realized Project Moon isn't done with you yet. Honestly, it’s a bit of a weird one. You’re staring down Gubo and Jia Huan, two N Corp. "frauds" (as the community lovingly calls them) who are decked out in E.G.O gear they clearly can’t handle.
They’ve got high levels—some of them hitting level 80—but don’t let that psych you out. This fight is less about raw power and more about not falling for Gubo's bait. If you try to play this like a standard "clash everything" map, you’re going to get shredded by unbreakable coins and AoE attacks that come out of nowhere.
The Gubo Problem: Why You Should Stop Clashing
Most players fail 8-32 because they try to win every clash against Gubo. That is a trap. Basically, Gubo has this skill called Bullet Drenched In The Blood of a Comrade. It’s a massive AoE that triggers if his SP drops too low—specifically under -20.
Here is the secret: Gubo’s accuracy is terrible. If you let him win clashes with his one-coin skills, he does pathetic damage (we’re talking 10-15 chip damage) against Sinners who resist Pierce. By letting him "win," you keep his Sanity high enough that he never feels the need to pull out the team-wiping AoE.
Focus Your Fire
You’ve got to prioritize. The real threats are the N Corp. adds and Jia Huan.
- The Goons: Kill the minions first. They give Gubo special ammo that buffs his skills. If you kill the minion he’s targeting with his big buff skill, the skill often cancels or loses its bite.
- Jia Huan: He’s annoying because he stacks Bind like crazy. It makes your turn order a mess. You want to use someone like Dieci Hong Lu or Kurokumo Captain Ishmael to just tank his hits or win the few clashes that actually matter.
- The Health Threshold: You don't actually have to "kill" them in the traditional sense. Once you get Gubo and Jia Huan down to about 20% HP, the fight ends.
Best Identities and E.G.O for 8-32
Since the boss damage is primarily Pierce and Slash, you want Sinners who can take a punch. Don't bring glass cannons that are fatal to Pierce; Gubo will eventually land a hit, and you don't want that hit to be a reset.
Top Tier IDs for this Stage:
- Dieci Association Hong Lu: This man is a wall. His Insight mechanic lets him discard skills to gain massive shields, and he resists the types Gubo throws out. He’s the MVP for solo runs if you’re into that.
- W Corp. Ryoshu: You need Slash damage to chew through Jia Huan’s health bar quickly. Dimensional Shredder helps keep the pressure on.
- Molar Office Outis: Her evade is legendary. If Gubo targets her with an unbreakable coin, just dodge. You can’t clash it anyway, so why take the damage?
- Zwei Ishmael: Great for the defense buffs. If your team is feeling squishy, her presence alone keeps people out of the stagger zone.
Essential E.G.O:
- Fluid Sac (Faust): You will take chip damage. There is no way around it. Having a reliable heal and SP restore is mandatory for the long haul.
- Blind Obsession (Ishmael): If you need to clear the adds in one go, this is your button.
- Binds (Outis/Heathcliff): Ironically, using Bind back against Jia Huan can help you reclaim control of the turn order.
Phase Strategy: A Step-by-Step Breakdown
The fight usually lasts about 15 to 20 turns if you’re playing it safe. Don't rush.
Turns 1-5: The Setup
Spend the first few turns farming E.G.O resources. Don't go all out on Gubo yet. Just clash with the minions and Jia Huan’s low-rolling skills. If Gubo targets someone with a Pierce-resistant ID (like a Dieci or K Corp unit), just let the attack happen. You want him to stay "sane."
Turns 6-10: Clearing the Board
Start picking off the N Corp minions one by one. If you stagger one of them, Gubo might try to shoot them instead of you. It’s hilarious and effective. Use this time to build up your Sinking or Bleed stacks if you're running a status team. Kurokumo Clan units do surprisingly well here because the "frauds" have a lot of coins to proc bleed on.
The Final Stretch: The 20% Dash
Once the adds are gone, focus everything on Gubo. Ignore Jia Huan if you can, or just throw a single S1 at him to keep him busy. Gubo is the one who ends the fight. Once he hits that 20% health mark, a cutscene triggers, and you're home free.
Actionable Tips for Success
- Check the Offense Level: If your Sinners are under-leveled (below 45), you’ll face a clash power penalty. Level 50 is the sweet spot for Canto 8.
- Don't Use P-Win: If you press the "Win Rate" button, the AI will try to clash with Gubo’s unbreakable coins. You will lose. Every time. Manually set your targets.
- The "No Stagger" Trick: If you have a Sinner who is about to get staggered, use an E.G.O. It shifts their stagger threshold and can often save them from a full stun.
- Read the Unbreakables: You cannot win against an unbreakable coin. If you see the red ring, use a Defense skill (Dodge is best) or just accept the hit on a tank.
Check your team's resistances before heading back in—if more than two of your starters are "Fatal" to Pierce, swap them out for someone bulkier like N Corp. Meursault or Zwei Rodion. Focus the adds, keep Gubo’s SP high, and stop trying to clash things that can’t be clashed.
Next Step: Make sure your main team is at least Uptie IV for their primary damage skills. If you're still struggling with survivability, try bringing a dedicated healer like LCCB Ishmael or Butler Faust to keep your SP and HP topped off throughout the mid-game.
